Povetkin, even though ive been really dissapointed with his pro career thus far. When he went pro thought he'd be one to shake up the division. Just plodded along hasnt he.
Bout time Wilder made a credible defence!

That would be a losing strategy, no way can Wilder outbox Fury, but he does have the power to stop him, and some.
Hang on - do you mean Povetkin? I actually could see Wilder winning rounds against him, boxing from the outside, though I favour Povetkin.

Wilder got made to look average and was given nightmares by D-Level fighters in Duhaupas, Molina and Szpilka. What do you think a world class fighter like Povetkin is going to do to him? And he's not poo enough to walk onto a punch like Szpilka.
Fury got rocked badly by Firtha and even got knocked down by cruiserweight Steve Cunninham and what Klitschko did to him? Your wannabie boxing expert analysis is pathetic
Fury's improved since then though. When he fought Firtha he was still pretty much a rookie and since he fought Cunnginham he's stopped prancing around in the ring like a twat and actually learnt to box. It's a bit unfair to dismiss him because a handful of bad performances. In his most recent fights against good opposition such as Chisora, Hammer and Wlad he's looked excellent.
In Wilder's case he's been looking poor in fights that have happened recently.

Povetkin would probably do 1 or 2 things.
Cover up and box behind the jab and snuggle himself into a defensive shell where little lands clean on him.
Attack head down and throw the cycle punches blind or into a rear view mirror that says objects are closer than they appear to be.

Fury isnt as good as the win against Wlad suggests (that sounds odd but i know what im trying to say). Wlad was first decent fighter he fought really, none of the others were top 15 if we're homest.
Wilder has gone backwards badly since stiverne performance

I'd put Chisora in the top 15.
Looking at the boxrec fighters ranked above him he'd beat Scott, Cunningham, Takem, Glazkov and Tarver.
Hammer, yeah, he's not a top 15 fighter but he's a solid top 30 guy. A decent name on a resume.

STFU. You have been going on and on and on how much better Povetkin is than Wilder, how much of a pussy and ducker Wilder is, and now don't have the boys to pick him?
Wilder will win by UD or KO. If I were to bet I would say KO because Povetkin doesn't have Stiverne's chin. If Wlad knocked him down 4 times, Wilder will stop him.
Povetkin simply was better lol, it wasn't even close at the time. There's a reason Wilder wanted to fight Hughie Fury and Duhaupas. Wilder probably doesn't want to fight Hughie Fury any more right now, because Hughie Fury made progress as well and Wilder was already scared at the time and didn't even want to give him 8 weeks. Povetkin became older and is still a good boxer, but he doesn't have the odds any more.

Wilder should win if he boxes smart using his jab and moving. IF that is !!

Remember when Atlas left him he said Povetkin had unlimited talent but didn't train or live the lifestyle enough to fulfill it.

interesting, the board leans towards povetkin.
especially since the natural bias of the audience
is probably more to the fighter from the west.
book keepers overall will have it even more in
favour of povektin i guess.
still, i think wilder can pull this of. it will be the
defining fight of his career.

May 21st. 2015 I call it the day of reckoning for Wilder and all of his adoring Boxrec posting fans. When Wilder loses they will try to say they never supported him at all. They will disown him like old underwear.

so you can see into the past? I dont think Wilder ha any one eyed passionate misjudged fans. This topic is about he and povetkin. I think as far as being limited goes, comparing the two boxers in question, it's Povetkin. Wilder has the skills and tools but his problem is whether his mind is intact to box or brawl.

Personally, I think Wilder's past three bouts have done him a world of good.
He & his people were heavily criticized for not signing to fight his mandatory v Povetkin immediately after his defeat of Stiverne, but I believe they did the right thing.
No, they didn't match him up with big name opposition nor did they choose the toughest contenders available. But, they put him in there with determined, durable challengers who took him deep into fights, giving him much needed rounds of experience. And in each of those fights Wilder had to face & overcome some adversity before stopping his opponents. All of which has prepared him for this upcoming bout with his #1 contender.
IMO, he's going to be more than ready for this step up & he'll likely overcome a couple/few rough patches early on before capitalizing on his significant edges in size, hand speed & power by busting up Povetkin down the stretch before finishing him in the 9th or tenth round.

I agree that his team has brought him along well, but I still think Povetkin has the edge at the moment. That could change by fight time.

I have to disagree. Anything he learned overcoming Molina and Duha is not only useless but perhaps detrimental when fighting Povetkin. He essentially gave away experience he gained against Stiverne by stepping down the notch. I think he will feel the difference as soon as he enters the ring. The gulf between near world class fighter and C level fighters is enormous and those skills he relied on in those two fights will be worthless against Povetkin.

Chisora, top 15?
Fury
Povetkin
Klitchko
Pulev
Wilder
Ortiz
Martin
Browne
Joshua
Parker
Stiverne
Haye
Teper
Those 13 beat him
Then would you have him beating Ustinov, Ruiz jnr, Jennings, Arreola? Helinus has a win over him (on paper)
I think Chisora v Derek Whyte would be 50/50.
Either way When your second best win is Derek Chisora you have a lot to prove

I'm going with Povetkin.
He's more experienced at the highest level and he's beaten better fighters than Wilder has.
As for the fight - Povetkin is as tough as they come, he can take punishment as dish it out. Wilder has shown us that he carries impressive punching power, but he overrelies on it. If he can't bang Povetkin out, then he could be in trouble in a way that he has never been before.
