Stuart Hall won and defended the British title but he was never the best bantamweight in the country whilst champion, Haskins and McDonnell proved that.
He won a vacant version of a world title which had been stripped from a boxer who had previously beaten him and he was never ever considered the best in the world or even his own country.
My perception of a british world class fighter would be a Pat Cowdell or Kevin Finnegan, guys that were solid European champions and fought the likes of Marvin Hagler and Salvador Sanchez and put up great fights.
Sorry if I upset anyone but just don't see Stuey Hall as a boxing legend.

Also not quite sure how a fact based opinion makes me immature or a troll and if you are on a forum you should debate and discuss not start name calling because someone does not agree with you.

Although this man has made history it seems he always has to swim upstream to please the press and boxing pundits. Any ideas on why the press, pundits and other's put him down or just plain ignore him and is this fair.

I agree. I'm in the local paper as much as him, but then again, Darlo isn't exactly the mecca of fame. Last year, I saw a horse tied up on a lamp post outside a pub - on one of the two main roads out into Darlo.

I don't know mate- he probably gets the level of recognition he deserves.

Does he put himself about a bit locally ? - you know, visiting schools and hospitals etc. getting his face in the paper ? - does he have an agent/PR setting things up, trying to get on local tv or whatever ?

To be honest, I don't think his achievements are at the level that national tv are going to knock on his door - it takes a lot of effort to get out there.

Also, (this is one of my pet hates with Brtish boxing) all but one of his title fights - for Commonwealth, European and World - have been against British opponents, which doesn't suggest that he is "proper" world level (without taking anything away from his achievements).

Quickest to win and keep Lonsdale belt oldest British fighter to win a world title at first go set up local boxing academy I think he has done his bit

Ryan Rhodes won the Lonsdale outright in 90 days. Did Hall break that record?
