I think he's saying he was drugged, that requires no error from VADA.

Perhaps an unrelated announcement?
Haye announces opponent today.

VADA doesn't make mistakes....

So how do people explain the first test?

None of it makes sense to me!

At this point, the onus is on Browne to prove he didn't cheat.
Until he has he must be considered a drug cheat.

The problem with all of this is that clen will NOT help you that close to a fight. Quite the opposite.

The only way this would have been believable would have been if they'd stupidly ended a cycle too close to the fight. Him testing clean before lends credence to his claims.

I don't know how he's going to prove it, but based on all of the available evidence, I think it's more likely that he is innocent as had his food spiked. Some will disagree, fair enough, but then you're either making the assumption that the first VADA test was wrong, or Browne's team gave him a weight loss drug likely to hinder his performance five (or less) days before a fight. Doesn't make sense to me, hence my belief he is innocent.

Where would any ban actually apply? Would it only be enforceable in Chechnya? If so that fight becomes a NC, Browne loses the nonsense belt and moves on.

I have no idea whether he doped or not, but I don't understand why it is so inconceivable that a fighter could go to Russia, home of the shittiest people in the world and not have something happen to him.

The guy seem believable and it IS NOT HARD TO IMAGINE him being "drugged". BUT THAT ASIDE...him and Haye would be nice match-up. Explosive! BUT..he IS IN NO WAY-SHAPE-or FORM the WBA champion. Anyone who follows this Sport got to see that very clearly! TYSON FURY IS CHAMP.

At first I thought guilty, but if it's true he arrived in Russia clean and the test proves it then that makes me raise a few eyebrows and suspect that he has been doped.

The fact Fury was apparently paranoid he was going to be slipped something and so refused to eat or drink anything unless given by his own team also makes me think Browne has been stitched up here.

At the press conference yesterday team Browne presented what they know to the public. If they knew who tainted Browne's food/drink, like they claimed, I'm sure they would be pursuing the person already. But if it was all as clean cut and obvious as that he would have declined the food/drink at the time, wouldn't he?

Browne's story is quite conceivable and in time I hope we find out what the truth is.

Do you guys really believe Browne is the first person to have some negative tests then have one pop positive?
This is not new territory.
Pre fight drug test, post fight drug test and sometimes they even have random drug tests(and sometimes they have no tests at all but that was not what happened here).
How often are multiple failed tests reported?
I can only think of one: Erik Morales
They just don't get caught every time, if they did there would be no drug problems in professional sports.
The drug tests can be beat but if they are indeed doing something wrong AND they get tested often enough they may eventually fail one.....................just one................and one is all it takes to get in trouble.

Browne came in at the lowest weight of his career with his physique chiseled like never before then fails a drug test.
The sudden change in body shape is consistent with what Clenbuterol will do for you.
Saying they didn't know and claiming they were set up by the boogey man is also consistent with failed drug tests.

"What-ever" the punishment. It gonna allow chap back. And....that's FAIR. But....HE >ISN'T TITLE HOLDER< WBA HAS ONE SLOT ONLY. WBC WBA IBF WBO ea. have the same FAIR SHAKE. They doing a "colassal RATINGS SCOPE" with the IN HOUSE. PLEASE "STOP". ONLY MAKING WORLD MEDIA LAUGH WORSE AT BOXING AND GIVE IT EVEN "BETTER REASON" to ignore the UN NOBLE "ART".
The guy is a CONTENDER. 24-0-0 with 21 KO's he is in position now to match anyone in the world. At a good pay rate. Bet he can demand 3.5 million or better to meet Deontay Wilder anywhere in the world [Ny or Australia]\\\but...anyone who has Integrity. Anyone who is WISE. Anyone who IS NOT "A SELL OUT" will prevent even any mention calling this publicly a WORLD BELT. It isn't. Browne as well as LUIS ORTIZ have supreme RATINGS "compliments" of the WBA. I hope he ISN'T CALLING HIMSELF "WORLD CHAMPION".

Guilty.
Browne isn't suggesting that VADA made a mistake, hence not requesting the B sample to be tested. Clearly he accepts that a banned substance was in his blood, but he denies taking it knowingly. Of course this will be very hard to prove.
Perseus wrote:It just doesn't matter how many times an athlete in any sport has a negative drug test.
The one positive is the only test that needs a credible explanation.
The fact that he tested negative just five days earlier is significant, particularly because the banned substance he tested positive for is used for weight loss and not for short term performance enhancement.
diddy wrote:What's he gonna do? Admit it? It's a combat sport. Dudes cheat. Vada doesn't mess up. He's guilty. Next.
Again, no one is suggesting that VADA messed up. Based on this assumption, we can agree with 100% certainty that Browne was clean just five days before the fight. Knowingly taking clenbuterol - to lose weight - so close to a fight makes no sense. Then consider the dodgy goings on in the fight - the long round, the short round and three lopsided scorecards - and it's certainly not inconceivable that someone spiked Browne's food in the leadup to the fight. Will be very hard to prove though.

I agree with you, VADA is the most trustworthy testing agency.

To the doubters: that he decided to NOT have the B sample tested implies he is indeed guilty.
No, it implies that he agrees the positive test was accurate and he believes he was spiked. Why are people finding this so hard to understand?!

For people with these sentiments, here is some light reading on the effects of clenbuterol
http://www.nationaldrugstrategy.gov.au/ ... uterol.pdf

If Clenbuterol has so many negative effects for short term use, why bother?
If he was tested clean on arrival to Chechnya, why start using a drug that provides weight loss for the last 6 or 7 days beofre the fight?
For the idiots carrying on about how light he was, please check his fight history, he was within 2.3kg/5ish lbs for his last 3 fights, and has fought around that weight a few times during his career. It may have been the lightest he has fought so far, he has also had a good 6 months to prepare, and by his own admissions cut out the junk food for that time, and managed to lose only 2kg.

For those assuming that not requestiong the B sample be tested, please make sure you understand how drug testing works before making assumptions. The sample provided is split in two, and this is what provides the A and B. If the A came up positive why would the B come up different? Possibly due to testing error, maybe tampering took place. There are no other reasons. The fact he hasn't requested testing of B sample most likely means there is faith in the VADA testing process, and that the lack of faith is in either the handling of the samples, or some other method of introducing the drug to the athlete.

Please get your facts straight before running your mouth. If he is genuinely guilty, then sure take the belt and suspend him from competition. If there are other factors involved other than a positive test that doesnt make sense, then how about let the facts come to the surface?

There are of course ways to mask it, so I suppose it's possible they just hadn't masked it properly for the later test.

The statement is interesting, what are the facts behind the arriving in Grozny clean tests? Is it just him saying so or have VADA released a statement?

VADA tested Browne as soon as he arrived in Grozny and then for a second time after the fight. Only the post fight test was positive. That much is known. So Browne did in fact arrive in Grozny clean as he claims.

How do you know? You've just repeated what Browne said, I've never read anything about a first test in Russia. I'm not saying it's not true just wonder where this information comes from.
