Whilst we're busy congratulating him on his admittedly fine gesture, we're all forgetting that he has lined up another daffodil to knock over in front of a large paying crowd.
I would much rather David had quietly given money to Blackwell & lined up a decent opponent that might actually hit him back.
Had he done so, he'd have made more more because he wasn't fighting another heavy bag & Blackwell would have benefited even more & he wouldn't have been open to criticism.
I'm not forgetting anything, I won't be shelling out to watch him flatten a crocus, a daffodil, or any other form of flower.
It's a good move on his part of course, but as long as it's mutually beneficial, who cares, Blackwell will do well, as will Haye, to me that's fine.
Arguably if Haye had a better opponent, they would demand more money, and given he sold out the 02 last time by all accounts, I guess he figures 'why bother.'
The only real reason he should fight better opponents is to prepare himself for a more difficult test, but I figure that against Joshua, it will be shit or bust, win or lose he makes a fortune, and his best chance is probably going in there to spark Joshua out early.

That's like 3 times nothing, he probably makes more money with this free advert as that 5% costs him... For me, this is pure marketing, got nothing to do with him beïng a nice guy, when the big money comes in he will probably put all of it in his pockets.
Not shocked or surprised your bumping your gums, even if its only a pound, its still a pound more than you've contributed no doubt
Yea, but he makes more money back because of it, he's pretty much making money over Nick Blackwell his back.
This is like beïng the leader of a few charities, making 200.000 pound a year with it and then claim you did because you're such a nice guy and because you care about some poor kids in Africa.
If Haye was a fair guy he would have fought pretty much for free, he doesn't even make that much money compared to the amount of money he will make if he ever reaches the top again.

That's a strange way of looking at it, Nick will likely need help when he comes around and 10% of anything is better than nothing and it could do Nick and his family a lot of good.
