That's a good point about the RING Belt

and as you say it would have certainly sent out a message to the sanctioning bodies.
He could easily have made his first defense by now and be in training for a second, instead he's getting fat, acting the buffoon every time he appears in public and possibly losing interest in the sport.

What are the penalties for not fulfilling his contractual agreement for an immediate i.e. next fight rematch with Wlad? Does throwing the belts away have any bearing on that?

Regarding the belts/titles nothing I assume, they can hardly strip him if he'd dumped them all
Financially/legally I really can't say, the Klit lads are known to be a bit Draconian with their contracts so I'm sure there will be some clause meaning Fury has to compensate them if he defaults on the rematch?

This whole thing is getting boring now.
If I were in Tyson's shoes I wouldn't even give the satisfaction to Wladimir and just walk away from negotiations (if it's realistic in the contract obviously...) he wouldn't get any bad press for declining it, as it's publicly known how hard it's dealing with the Klitschko's and especially Bernd Boente.
Tyson Fury (with all the belts he currently holds) v Wladimir Klitschko would struggle to sell 50,000+ tickets now.
Whereas, Anthony Joshua (if he wins the IBF) V Tyson Fury (with no belts) would sell out Wembley instantly... IMO anyway.

My point is, unless you're privy to the terms of the contract, any talk of dumping the belts and moving on without facing Wlad may be completely daft. That's not to say Wlad won't drag things out for months and then decide to retire, of course, but in the meantime, I strongly suspect that Fury looking anywhere other than Wlad would not be possible without suffering extreme financial ramifications - belts or no belts.

This is still the biggest fight out there for Fury I think.
I don't think a fight with Joshua would sell out Wembley, and I don't think Joshua's management would let him take the fight just yet.

I've said for months Tyson doesn't look interested at the moment. Maybe the way he was treated after winning the belts really hurt him. It will be even worse when the public goes mad when AJ beats Charles Martin FFS. The same papers lavishing praise on AJ, put the boot into Tyson when he pulled off a remarkable win.

1. Clearly I'm not 'privy' to said contracts.
2. Fury hasn't dumped said belts so my post was mere conjecture.
3. I did concur in my previous post and state there probably would be significant financial penalty in the event of failing to comply with the contracted rematch.
4. I suggest you read posts more carefully before denouncing anyones opinion as 'daft'

That's entirely of his own making, every time he's in front of a camera he manages to make a complete t*t of himself, he does little to win the publics affection/respect.
NB: Not an anti 'Traveller' rant MIck merely an observation

Given AJ's comparable popularity to Fury in the UK, Fury-Wlad 2 is likely to do far better business in Germany. I'll be very surprised if it ends up here.

I think that it would still to do very good business here. There's plenty of germans with money enough to afford a trip to London, and there's plenty in the UK would attend.
Probably an easier sell in Germany I grant you, as they seem to fill big venues with regularity there.

It baffles me how there are no restraint of trade issues around boxers forcing opponents into rematches through punitive contracts. I can see how sanctioning bodies themselves could apply criteria to an original fight stipulating that the same two guys have to fight an immediate rematch for a particular belt but in this example I can't see how Klitschko's team would have a leg to stand on if Tyson flounced off to fight whomever he wanted in a non title bout.

Yes, I'm doubtful it would hold up either. I'm pretty sure there's restraint of trade legislation in the EU law.

The way he was treated was terrible, they just dug up a load of old news to shit all over him, while complaining about his performance in a win over the greatest heavyweight at least since Lennox Lewis.

The Mirror must have sat on a "Fury's Coach Gangster Shock" EXCLUSIVE INVESTIGATION piece for years and lifted, word for word, one of Terry's pieces, where Peter was being totally open about his past. How they get paid for it or even put their name to it is beyond me.

I got them to attribute my quotes to BM and 'Scene, but told them not to put my name with them as I didn't want it to appear in their little shit box of a paper unless I'd a) Won the Lottery b) Seduced Monica Bellucci c) Killed a man or d) Used my Lottery winnings to have a man killed so I could get to Monica Bellucci.

As you say I don't think Joshua's management wouldn't take it at the moment but if they did this would easily sell out Wembley Joshua is a massive pull especially to casual fans and Wembley is pretty much on his door step. It would sell out in minutes

If he refused to fight Klit I don't think he'd have to give up his belts, what he would do it get in a massive legal battle and likely lose all his money.
