Agreed Stevie.....Ruiz was a hard, hard watch and people were not exactly queuing around the block to get tickets for his fights.

But in his own mauling, grinding and fairly limited way he was often far more effective than he's generally given credit for.

Well past his sell by date he did his best to hang tough against Haye and did not throw himself to the floor and stay there at the first opportunity....others would have no doubt taken that option.

Aye, hellish to watch and he nicked a few tight ones but he could make anyone look bad and had a rock solid chin. His trilogy with Holifield proved he was a solid operator

Hard to pick the worst. Valuev was very poor as a recognised champion and he probably got a gift vs Evander plus he got outboxed and rocked by a cruiser in Haye.
Briggs was a two time champ but he got a gift when he beat Foreman and was then thrashed by Lewis then stopped a very ordinary champion in a fight he was losing in the last few seconds and then lost clearly to Imbragimov when he looked dreadful.
If Martin gets thrashed next weekend and never becomes champion again I'd have to say him though

Ruiz won all of his big fights spoiling, holding, crying foul and generally cheating. In his rematch with Holyfield he got hooked to the belly and laid on the floor holding his testicles for ten minutes. Holyfield was docked a point by the Puerto Rican ref Joe Cortez for the legal bodyshot that should have scored a KO win. The next round the Puerto Rican Ruiz hit Holyfield square in the balls and Cortez did nothing.

Every time Kirk Johnson hit him to the body there Ruiz was, diving to the floor.

It was hilarious to see him lose to a middleweight. Jones stayed outside and made it a boxing match, and because John Ruiz had no boxing skill he was made to look a fool. Then he lost to another middleweight. Strange how he never called out David Tua.

Awful fighter, awful champion. Without the Don King connection he would never have had a title shot, nevermind a decade-long reign as champion of the WBA 'B' class division.

I'd say Briggs. Though several of the Titleholders that weren't legit Champs have been pretty awful.

Pre Klitchko bout bet a lot of people would say a lot of those names wouldve beat Fury.

Still, he beat "the man".

Stivernes loss to Wilder looks pretty damning following Wilders championship performances.

No surprise when a boxer who takes his nickname from prince charles turns out to be predictably shite. Prince Charles, as in the big eared royal whos shagging camilla parker-bowles.

You didn't really have to spell that out.

However, a quicker explanation might have been the prince of you!

Not recognised as our prince my friend. He's only alive because the two taffs who planned to blow him up at his investiture in caernarfon fucked up and blew themselves up en route!

Definitely. I said at the time if Martin gets bowled over then it has to be him. It just shows up these 'titles' for what they are. Happy for AJ to win one but he wouldn't have taken much from that outing fight wise. Preparation wise it was great but stearner tests await.

I hope he mans up and actually fights someone good next. Ortiz, Brown or the winner of Takam vs Parker would be good opponents.

Knowing him and Camp Eddie though, they'll be praying Chisora beats Pulev to set up a comfortable defence against him. If he doesn't, I can easily see it been Malik Scott :brick:

Don't think it'll be the winner of Takam v Parker right away but obviously it's on the cards. That fight will happen and the sooner the better. If Chisora beats Pulev it'll be him yeah. Would be a cracking win so I wouldn't begrudge him. Pulev will do Derek though so they're probably going to have to deal with his people.

He won't fight Ortiz. Brown is engaged with his drug fight. It better not be Malik feckin Scott. That would be a cop out.

Charles Martin is the worst EVER. And I'm not being reactionary. I wouldn't pick him over a single heavyweight champ in history.

Yup, it's not even close. Never mind not picking him over another heavyweight champ, I wouldn't even pick him over Whyte or Chisora.

I wonder if Price could do him?
