That is incredible. My favourite line has to be... "Not that our readers should be concerned about any of this."
At least he got that right, literally nobody is arsed, Jeff.

reggaereggae wrote:Ok, I know people will slag this because it's the Daily Mail, but this is just laughable.
At least the Daily Mail has a dedicated boxing 'journalist' who writes several articles a week... But this was actually in the printed paper and shows you how little boxing 'journalists' writing for the big papers know or are in touch with boxing! (EG Sri Sen used to write for the Times and said Hamed was the first fighter of Pakistani origin to win a world title.)
Anyway, according to Jeff: "
It will shine all the brighter on Saturday night when he takes with him to the O2 the coaches at the Fitzroy Lodge amateur boxing club in south London, led by current gym boss Mick Carney, who groomed him to win the Olympics and thereby set him up for professional glory.
‘I gave them my word they would be there with me when I win a world title,’ he says."....
Right... This is the club he never boxed for, to my knowledge never trained at... And it is apparently run by Mick Carney 'current gym boss"...
I was very close to Mick and miss him so much, but he died in 2011.... I would love him to be resurrected but I have heard no evidence of this.
What lazy, poor journalism.... I assume this idiot meant Finchley ABC

Jeff Powell is an awful journalist

Jeff Howler has form for it.
Exclusive: Lennox Lewis reveals he is coming out of retirement to fight Wladimir Klitschko
Exclusive: Khan signs up for Mayweather, could be announced as early as next week
Exclusive: Khan vs Pacquiao April 9th
.. Not to mention his round-by-round which scored Pac beating Mayweather.
If it was a little website, it would be torn apart- but the web guys have infinitely more care and pride as to what they report , than this 'veteran' - who gets the huge platform, tickets, flights and money to turn in such poor clickbait articles.

A couple of the national guys are really passionate about boxing, Ron Lewis for example, too many of them spend the early part of the shows they do attend whining about their seats or their vantage point. The irony that a fair few don’t know what they’re looking at is clearly lost on them.
I heard that 20+ Irish writers came out of the woodwork for Frampton-Quigg, pushing most online and some print outlets into the overspill area. I wonder how many of them had a burning desire to cover boxing prior to that one big fight?

Pal of mine tweeted Jeff about the same errors the OP highlights. Twitter have deleted the Tweet (probably after a complaint?) but the article remains unchanged at this time. Strange.

My iphone is trashed and I wrote that on a 2008 samsung that is just useless. Throw into the mix I was in Ikea ignoring my wife's pleas for a decision on what soap dispenser went best with our hand towels. I should have just waited till I got home. But you know how it is on the forum, you think you're making a point that no-one else has made yet in the thread and if you miss that opportunity to be first, well you just look like you copied someone else's post.

and yeah your point is good.... I'm just not sure how the useless mainstream guys cock up so much, and don't get called on it. I guess due to their position, they have too much power so people rarely upset them.
