BTW, I didn't know that was a requirement. I mean, you often get that impression but still. Any way, more power to you. #pride.

Not sure what the current exchange rate is but 5 million quid is usually around 8 million dollars, more or less.

All right for some. Whereabouts, how long have you been there, and how do you like it? Cheers.
Came out 19 years ago to work on cruiseships & realised I like sunshine. Lived in Cali for 8 years & came back to Florida 4 years ago to work at the Hard Rock casino in Fort Lauderdale. Can't work casinos anymore as I got sick from breathing in 2nd hand smoke for 8/10 hours a night for donkeys years so now I sell organic wine in a shop in Sarasota.
It's brilliant here. I live by the beach in a quiet little place, great cycling trails, angry rednecks, crazy old people, cheap rent, friendly gators & pelicans aplenty.
It's much better than Kidbrooke anyway

How difficult was it to get a visa/permission to stay?

Well I married a Septic, who then fleeced me & fucked off to Melbourne in Oz (which is where I had planned to move to before meeting her). She does an online soft porn thing nowadays, I think.
But Visas are tough unless you have a job with a company here or you can invest something like $250,000 in a business. Money talks, as always.
When I lived in Fort Lauderdale back in 2003/4/5 there were shitloads of British, Irish & Aussies there illegally. As long as you don't leave or get arrested you can fly under the radar. A lot of those lads buggered off after the recession hit though. They're in Dubai now.
I don't plan on staying here forever though. I'm off to Thailand, Indonesia or Philippines in a decade.
Unless I forget. Which is likely

I was watching one of those home in the sun programs yesterday and a couple got shown two amazing houses in Florida for under 200 grand, which is why I was curious.
Couldn't believe my eyes. 5 bedrooms, pool and double garage for less than a council house. The other was a 3 bedroom open plan by a lake and even better.

You fornicator
That's a good memory you have there, Sklar.
I'm off on holiday in a few weeks, and she still insists on carrying the passports after that episode. Doesn't sit easy with me. I feel emasculated.

There's a plot of land across the street from me for sale for $15k.
It's about 25 metres by 25 metres. Five minutes to a gorgeous beach & in a nice safe area. So bloody cheap here. If I had the money I'd buy it & sit on it for a couple of years. SW Florida is the fastest growing region in the USA in terms of property.

I don't have a pound sign. I have a $ over the 4.
My $ is over the 4 and my £ is over the 3
US keyboards have something else over the 3, as I found out when I accidentally switched my language selection from English English to American English in work the other day. Confused the eff out of me for ages, needed to type a £ sign but kept getting * or #

My 3 has the # sign - which in America is called a Pound Sign

What sort of dough do you think Brophy would have got for fighting Groves? I reckoned about 20-30k?

That's unreal if Martin got $8 million. If Joshua can generate that type of money I imagine that it would make pretty much everyone a realistic option for him, though perhaps it would lead to contenders avoiding each other and trying to hold out for a Joshua payday.

$8,000,000 dollars?!?!?!?
If he gets paid 1/60th of that, that would be too much!
Where's Don King when you need him?

Martin didn't get that In the interests of fair play- he got it because he brought something to the table- a belt. Contenders are ten a penny and will be rewarded accordingly.

I don't think the standard contender would get close to that, but I imagine that they'd still be paid relatively well.

Eddie made an offer he couldnt refuse to bring him over and get AJ the easiest route toma world title. Wilder only got £1m to fight Szpilka, and £750k against Stiverne.

Absolutely right.
It could even lead to the likes of Wilder doing a 'Riddick' & dumping his WBC belt in order to secure a bout with Joshua for a trinket & a payday too.

He surely wouldn't have to.
With AJ now a legit titlist (

) they can sell it to the governing bodies as a unification to provide the ultimate champion of the universe
Even though the 'man' is clearly Fury

8m dollar could be right, the dollar isn't worth as much atm, while the pound is, AJ is also very very, very very popular and Martin was probably willing to sell his belt for the highest amount of money. AJ received a very nice amount of money against Dillian Whyte already and wanted that belt.
I think it's actually possible that Martin made 8m dollar with this fight.

Cheers. Either way, $3.5 mill or $8 mill he's done ok.
