If he's still champion maybe they'll hold a fight on the 100th anniversary in the Urals.
Why not? Only good thing communist ever done for that country. What does it have to do with boxing though?
Nothing. Ekatinburg is no world metropolis and I just thought it quite a coincidence that the town will in all likelihood be home to the LHW champion on the 100th anniversary of one of the country's most infamous events. I just found that to be interesting. I don't know why I mentioned. I wouldn't say wantonly killing innocent women & children is a good thing. And I do not hold human life (in general) particularly sacred. I don't care that strangers were murdered 100 years ago but I wouldn't check it off as a positive in my journal. Though I wouldn't judge anyone who did either.

They will hold a 20 minute moment of silence after the national anthems are played that night in memory of the Tishinek massacre.
It will sound just like the Klitschko/Fury fight.

Bellew didn't beat the guy. UK judges did.

I'm no Bellew fan but he clearly won the second fight

Bellew clearly won the rematch but I thought Chilemba edged the first fight.

Which LHW opponents wouldn't be totally mismatched against Kovalev?

Only 2-3: Beterbiev, Ward and possibly Stevenson.

Good warm up fight before Ward.

I like Chilemba. Highly skilled but not the most exciting. Deserves a payday after a couple of fights where the scorecards didn't reflect his performance.

The reason this fight excites me is because it's in Russia and Chilemba is as durable as they come. Be interesting to see if Kovalev stops him.
I think he will.

Nice warm up fight. Chilemba is kind of boring, but he's tough. I enjoy watching his fights even though he's not the most pleasing.

The question in this fight will be if Kova can get the stoppage. I think he will.

Bellew beat him in the rematch, i think i had Chilemba winning close the first time, iirc.

Either way Chilemba sucks, he is evasive in a kind of clumsy Tyson-Fury kind of way. Kovalev's boxing is underrated, he landed solid shots in most rounds against B-Hop who is 100x trickier and evasive than Chilemba ever could be.

Kovalev inside 5, easy ko.

You don't see the irony of this? Tyson Fury just beat an unstoppable dominant champ by being clumsy.

Fury utilised several physical advantages such as size/reach/youth/speed. None of which Chilemba has over Kovalev.

More importantly, Wlad fights like a pussy unlike Kova.

Bit of an oxymoron, that.

I have to admit that Povetkin appeared to be getting swallowed by a giant vulva for much of the WKlit fight. :OhYes:

If he wanted to fight a relative nobody with little chance of winning, I wonder why he does not just fight his WBO mandatory - Domenic Boesel of Germany. He can get it out of the way so he doesn't have to deal with potentially getting stripped in the Fall when bigger fights might present themselves.

EDIT: I see Boesel is fighting fellow undefeated German Denis Leibau this weekend.

Chilemba is far from nobody. Besides, he is a defensive fighter/spoiler, so from all the options, he is closest to Ward, of course being significantly worse in everything except the chin quality. Punching power may be comparable.

Not a run of the mill defence but Kovalev is expected to win.
November 19th is apparently penciled in for Vegas or NYC Kovalev v Ward.
