I was a big fan, but curry wasn't ray Robinson. I'd also nominate hearns over Carlos Hernandez.

Well I'm really pleased my team of c's got this far but the L's look devestating.

H - Ezzard Charles
LH - Billy Conn
M - Marcel Cerdan
W - Don Curry
L - Tony Canzoneri

Louis beats Charles
Conn would beat loughran I think although itd be close - Conn was far more explosive
Again Lamotta vs cerdan is close - cerdan was past his past im sure when la motta fought him got to give jake the edge tho
Leonard beats curry
Kid Lewis was a welter - a weight drained Lewis gets outpointed by Canzoneri

Looks like we have new champions with a 3-2 win!!!

Actually throw langford into the mix who was prob mostly a lt heavy and you have an unstoppable team.

Can't believe theres a better team than this one.

Ha, sorry you did well but most of the vowels (except A) and X, Y and Z were bound to be pretty slim pickings.

L with Benny Leonard and Sam Langford looks like the team to beat then.

M
HW - Rocky Marciano
LHW - Archie Moore
MW - Carlos Monzon
WW - Jimmy McLarlin
LW - Floyd Mayweather Jr

Could've had FMJ at WW and put Montgomery or McFarland in at LW I guess, but I figured Floyd had a slightly higher chance of beating Benny than SRL.

I thought the L's would win. Benny Leonard, SRL and Joe Louis should beat almost everyone in their weight class.

I had Marciano beating Louis (as he did)
Moore beating Langford
Monzon beating LaMotta
SRL beating McLarnin and
Mayweather beating Benny Leonard

of course all these fights could have gone the other way...

Louis KOs Marciano 8 times in 10.
Monzon clear decision over LaMotta
SRL clear decision over McLarlin.

The other two are trickier.

Moore of course has the better resume at strictly 175 but Langford could've had more fights at that weight had it been more of a concern at the time. Both are great but neither are indestructible, though Langford strikes me as slightly more durable so I think he takes it by KO in a classic.

Likewise Benny Leonard was much the better lightweight on resume but Floyd has pretty big advantages in size and punching power and might be a little more versatile. Saying that I don't think Mayweather's game was completely developed while he was at 135 and in a neutral environment over 15 rounds Leonard is able to out-general him to a competitive but clear decision.

Which makes it 4-1 Ls to me though I could see 3-2 the other way.

The Wizards of O:

HW: Ossie Ocasio
LHW: Philadephia Jack O'Brien
MW: Mike O'Dowd
WW: Gaspar Ortega
LW: Carlos Ortiz

Not bad. Possibly the #2 vowel. [edit: maybe challenging A for #1 vowel, looking at it]

Puddle O'Pish

I must say I'm delighted to have gotten a draw against the mighty leather throwers.

But how do we carry on in the case of tie?
Does the reigning champion keep the title?
Does Scabman get to judge the results of a rematch to decide who faces his Spinks?
How about we choose a wildcard L and R fighter to fight a decider?

My slap bang wallop team can't deal with being eliminated when we came so very close.

In fact scratch that wildcard nonsense.
Lennox/John Henry/Ted Kid Lewis spanks any back up R fighter I can find

Theres nothing about a draw in the OP

I demand a rematch

Can't see Barney Ross beating Benny Leonard on points. The L's are the champs in all but name!!!

I do like the spinks and steele team though hehe.

I don't agree with the draw but I'd say Louis KO win over Ray splits the tie.

Look out though 'cos here come the Ts (open to suggestions on the name).

HW - Mike Tyson
LHW - Gene Tunney
MW - Dick Tiger
WW - Felix Trinidad
LW - Lew Tendler

Probably only T and W left that might challenge the LTL.

Edit: wait, forgot about SPINKS & STEELE!

Louis KOs L Spinks
Langford gets a tight decision win on M Spinks
Steele decisions LaMotta
SR Leonard KOs C Spinks
B Leonard KOs L Spinks III (surely there's a better S___ lightweight out there?)
