Great fight. It would be Brooks 2nd biggest win, it would also make him a unified champion which would make it far easier to negotiate a big fight.
In reality I still think he has to go back Stateside for either Thurman or Garcia. I don't think Hearn would put the money up for a Uk fight.

If Brook does fight Thurman then it should definitely be in the Tampa Bay area.

94% in favour of a brook win ?
I'd be disappointed purely because for me it still won't show me how good kell really is

Realistically, who can he fight instead?

Vargas is probably the best fight that can get made for Brook in the UK this summer. A win would make him the unified IBF & WBO champion and although the belts are becoming less and less important, it would at least make him more difficult for the American welterweights to ignore. Don't think it's a very competitive fight, though.

When fighting stiffs like bizer you should be matching the next fight first

I'd be happy with Vargas.
A fight against cotto would be top of my list though, great mix of styles.

According to Hearn, they said "yes" to fight Cotto on 18 June and have had no response since.
Apparently Cotto is not in training and now not looking to fight until "fall".

It will be another title for brook which will make him appealing to some fighters, it's a semi decent name but why nothe travel to fight and make a name for himself in the states.
Put on a show v vargas on us TV and he may get the fights he wants x x

Think we have to be patient with Brook. I know that can be frustrating, and it has been already. But he can deliver when the fight is made, as was case with Porter. We can get fed up, angry, but it'd be silly to write him off or to call him a joke. Many of us did that with Calzaghe, who, when after about 8 years given the unification fights, delivered fairly easily. Think Brook will have longevity, he'll do it on his terms and him being a homeboy who is injury prone will always cause delays.
Think they're playing the long game. Unification in Britain, first. Mandatory, etc. At least the next potential mando, Spence, is exciting and considered world class already. Although there is that irritating sense of "American entitlement" that people buy into too soon; any time an American appears in the scene everyone assumes he's the next coming and that he'll be ducked. (Get this all the time with the heavyweight Wilder, who was steered toward a different belt than Klitschko, the big fight he's building toward is Klitschko's pitiful headlock victim Povetkin, and many like to say Fury - who coasted to victory over Klitschko in Germany - is ducking Wilder. A very twisted and strange reversal supported with regularity by forum members.)
Target is most likely a popular Puerto Rican due to the big fan bases in America so all roads should lead to a Garcia unification in America or as has been mentioned, Cotto up at 154. Prefer Garcia. Welter will become more interesting if Crawford unifies 140 then moves up.

When I first read the headline I thought he was fighting Johnny Vegas !
I could just imagine Eddie giving it his usual smarmy spin - "people said that Khan shouldn't have taken the Alvarez fight because of the weight difference, but Kell is giving away even more weight away to fight this guy. This is a tough fight and the boxers should be getting life changing money for this one, this is why it is available on PPV for just £17 - tickets are available through my mates website at Stub Hub" etc. etc. blah blah blah

It's about time Brook fought an opponent that wasn't on life support.
Definitely a step in the right direction, if not quite hitting the bullseye yet.

It does seem the best available fight. Hope it comes off and enables Brook to secure more important opponents.
Neither Brook nor Hearn chose Bizier and Dan - don't blame them for that. But it does seem they aim somewhat low considering Brook's gifts. Calling Khan out just after devastating KO loss, trying to get an old and undersized Marquez and we know they'd have been happy to get Brandon Rios, a guy who has seemed lost outside of the lightweight division he's long outgrown. I'm a believer in Brook and a supporter - I go to the fights, I'll buy his biggest fights on PPV if need be -but they're selling themselves short in what their definition of a big fight is.
Hoping Kell can do enough this year not to be forgotten. It'd be a pity to see, for instance, Porter's achievements surpass Brook's after Brook took his unbeaten record and world title in America. Or for Garcia, Thurman and co just to get on with it without Brook. If this happens Brook and Hearn won't panic, they'll play the long game. But they really need to make the fights count. Would hate for Cotto to be the big fight. Cotto has little stamina and few ideas after six rounds and it'd be a pity to move up away from all that 147-pound potential.

Good fight for Kell and a unification. I think he'll win and win well. As long as he steps up again after this one then I don't see any problem. Vargas was probably the best name available.

I reckon afterwards it will be Spence early next year if he doesn't have "weight" problems

Watch this space for 'weight problems' haha. Wouldn't surprise me.

Problem with the opponent (Vargas). If he takes care of Vargas then looks to step up I don't see how he can get any flak. If he continues to progress after Vargas then that's what we all want to see.

Just seems to me like he can't win whoever he fights.....unfortunately Garcia and Khan won't have anything to do with him so Kell has a unification fight and if he doesn't step up after Vargas which is a hard thing to do in this division you would find fault with Vargas as an opponent. It's hard for Edward to get anybody over so hopefully he's done very well getting Vargas apart from the top 4 or 5 there's nobody in he could step up against

I said it's a good fight for him mate. Maybe you're picking me up wrong? He's the best name available and a fellow champ. I see Kell as an elite fighter and think if he deals with Vargas (which he should) then he should be in the mix with Garcia, Thurman, Spence etc... I think him and Thurman could happen and it has the ingredients of a right good tear up.
I don't want him to fight Khan anymore. I see it as a straight forward KO win for Kell and I always have. The fight has lost some of its value after Khans brutal KO IMO.

Vargas is a fantastic fight.
I see Brook beating him handily over 12 rounds.
Easily Brooks second best opponent and the fact it's a unification helps.
Puts Brook in the driving seat for some huge fights afterwards.
Brook must understand though he will have to travel stateside for the big fights. He doesn't do enough numbers unfortunately in the UK.
The next logical step up would be either Bradley or risk the mandatory against Spence. Money wise he may be able to entice Spence over here but US tv may not allow it.
