That's a stretch. GGG typically weight around 170lb on fight night while fighting at middleweight. I can't imagine him weighing less than 175lb on fight night for a fight at light heavy. Kovalev has weighed from the low to high 180s on fight night, his highest being 189lb. Ward would likely be a little lighter. I honestly think a 15lb difference is more likely.

My point is, he'd be conceding pretty big advantages come fight night. People make out like he's only interested in fighting guys inferior to him, at least he fights genuine middleweights, unlike some other middleweights I could mention.

but he's hasn't fought a fight that is considered at 60/40 fight let alone 50/50.

So, if a runner or a swimmer is much faster than everybody else, he should wear weights to make it even ?

MMA is better analogy your the best in the division you move up in fight the best in next division. English football your the best in your division you move up and challenge yourself. The greats do it.

Try half an inch taller - Roy 5'11", GGG 5'10 1/2". Roy's reach is 4 inches longer and yes, he's definitely broader, which contributes to this. At GGG's age, Roy was a natural light heavyweight. None of this means GGG can't compete at light heavyweight, but to skip 168lb and go straight for the #1 in the division would be a huge ask.

With Golovkin's style, fighting much bigger men is a huge health risk. He takes shots in order to return a bigger favor and he has a great chin, meaning he can take a lot of punishment. Taking a bunch of shots from likes of Kovalev when you are much smaller, you can end up in a coma.

I don't see Golovkin ever fighting at 175 personally. He's just not that big of a guy. He's a natural Middleweight if there ever was one.

Prety much this and Saad's same day comments. In this day and age he's actually a small middleweight. There are plenty of fighter at 154 who weigh more on fight night.

There's plenty of boxers GGG could fight if he wants to pass the time I don't get it.

I think he wants the record for Middleweight Title defenses before he leaves the division. That would be at least 5 more fights at Middleweight

you so stupid. i have talking about kovalev being a boring entertainer talker. i never said he is boring inside the ring which he obviously isnt.

you know nothing about boxing if you think lara lost to pw and canelo, anybody with a bit of boxing sense saw the way lara schooled both. i remember roy jones saying "lara won against williams, what a robbery"

Kovalev would have too much size on him. He's probably over 190 in the ring, how much does GGG weigh on fight night, around 170?

Ward is more reasonable, but I don't see that happening neither, nor do I think it should. There are a plethora of guys at 160 and 168 that Golovkin could establish a massive legacy if he were to beat.

I mean right now there are Jacobs, Saunders, Alvarez (Khan?), at mw, several guys at 154 who could move up like lara and the Charlos, maybe Andrade, and Ramirez, DeGale, Jack, perhaps Smith and Groves at 168

If that's not enough to make a HOF resume out of, I don't know what it would take.
