From the today guys, the most brutal one-punch KO's were performed by Wilder Price, Lyachovich, Shpilka.

One heavyweight (albeit limited) who put a lot on his shots, was Hasim Rahman.

Scott LeDoux, who claimed to have either fought or sparred with 13 heavyweight champions, told me that Foreman hit harder than any of them. He said that a lot of people talk about "punching through the target," but Foreman was the only one who actually did it.

I think Foreman, wladmir, and lewis, by virtue of mass, big bone structure, physics and leverage, hit harder than just about anyone in history.

Foreman's x factor and equalizer was that he had a granite chin And threw caution to the wind, so it made him an even more dreadful opponent than his safety-first technical contemporaries.

However, few fighters in history put so much into their punches like shavers. Shavers literally put EVERYTHING into every hit and transfered his weight very well for such a limited 1-2 boxer. The footage speaks for itself: shavers was always way off balance when he missed and literally swung for the fences. If he were a poker player, he'd be the guy who said "all in" every single time. Even when he lands flush shavers is off balance and does a little hop and skip to adjust himself.

I know some people don't consider fight quotes valid evidence but it really says a lot when monsters like holyfield and Briggs, who fought damn near everyone in their division, claim a 42 year old foreman hit them the hardesr and then Ali and Holmes both clarify that shavers hit harder than anyone they fought.

Shavers over big George. That said Foreman's punches always looked effortless, arm punches with KO power.

That's true. Foreman didn't properly shift his weight or put snap in his punches and still knocked guys out silly with telegraphed arm swings.

He's possibly got the heaviest hands of all time.

-There's being heavy handed with solid blows (tua, lyle, max baer, c00ney)

-and there's having "explosive" snap (like tyson, Joe louis, Dempsey, patterson)

Foreman smashed a lot of very small Heavyweights like Joe Frazier, Joe Roman, Pedro Agosto, Ladislao Mijangos, Ted Gullick, Miguel Paez, Frank Lux and other select little guys... Mike Tyson crushed Alex Stewart in the 1st - but Foreman hit Stewart with the kitchen sink for the distance and couldn't get him out... I'm not saying Tyson was the best puncher. He's too small and big guys Buster Douglas and Lennox Lewis laid little Mike out... Earnie Shavers was out-punched by Ron Lyle, Ron Stander, Jerry Quarry, Tex Cobb, and Bernardo Marcardo - so certainly not him or anyone else on your list.

Wilder is not going to dive, he is not in that stage of his carreer...his team plans to make more money matching him with Fury/Klitchko/Joshua.

Povetkin's team did everything they could to drag the negotiation to the purse bid, and when bring the fight to Moscow, overpaying a lot of money. They did the same with Klitchko, by the way...nothing new

As to Wilder's team concerns regarding Russian drugtest company - who can blame them??? Ask Brown and other guys who won russians in Russia

NO I have a degree in sports science so let me educate you. Power PUNCH is the product of maximum strength and maximum speed. OK?

Tyson has a knock out where he makes a fighter who's about 2 steps in from the ropes go flying to the ropes with one punch! It was like he threw his opponent to the ropes with his punch. Joshua is yet to demonstrate anything like that.

Joshuas typically got a knockout cross but when you watch his knockouts a lot of them are from relentless 3+ punch combos, theres a few 1 2 knockouts there. Where as when you watch Tyson, a lot of Tysons are 2 punch combos and not many of his earlier opponents got back up!

Joshua career is still happening and I'm sure I'll see more KOs but I want to see him make someone go flying or a devastating drop or a KO that we can go WOW that's the KO of the YEAR!!

The guy that applies to is Gary Cornish, and pretty much only him, a part time club fighter that took time off work to get a big payday. Most of his fights aren't even clean KO's his throws tons of big shots to break people down, and then the ref calls it off.

But who knows maybe Cornish could take prime Foreman a good few rounds,

Are people seriously riding aj's nuts that hard they think he's the #1 puncher in all of history? He has 2 decent names on his list.

Punching power isn't just the sheer number of victins, it's how good the were. Foreman knocking out Michael Moore and frazier top anything aj has done so far.

Also lol at using the weight of his opponents as evidence. Any slob can weigh over 240 lbs. It doesn't matter unless it's lean muscle and you have good cardio or it just gets in the way. If weight was so important than joe Louis should be the king of finishers. Ironically he actually had an easier time k.oing bigger guys over 6'0 and 200+ lbs than he did smaller heavies. So did ali. All factors must be considered before making a big deal out of the weight of an opponent.

mass, basicly weight in combination ith speed brings power. that is alo the reason why the higher you go up in weight, the harder they punch. thurman punches harder than uchiyama, ggg punches harder than thurman, kovalev punches harder than ggg, wilder punches harder than kovalev.

In human beings, power is so much more complicated than can determined by any mathematical algorithm . You need to figure in body movement; placement of body position: pivot, torque and more; Fast twitch muscles also factor into the equation. There are too many immeasurables involved to be determined by a simple calculation.

I'd like to nominate Jack Johnson, Rocky Marciano, & Ike Ibeabuchi. That fight in which Johnson knocked out all the teeth from Tommy Burns ( ?) always sticks in my mind.

Ya, I mean if power is just weight x speed shouldn't Ward punch harder than guys like GGG and Kovalev?

And how did George Foreman have such incredible power despite not being very fast and often weighing under 220 during his peak? Surely the much faster and similarly heavy Ali would've hit harder.....

Good "divers" acyually allow their opponent to hit(Takam vs Povetkin case), so it looks much naturally. It demands some amount of courage

you right. but mass and speed are the most important factors. because the factors you said, well they produce that speed. the fast twitch muscles, the right technic how to turn your body into the punch, the right technic bringing the force from your stance, your feet into turning, than swinging the hook. so you brought up the ingredients that produce the explosive speed.

but true. it is very complicated, cause than the fastest puncher would ultimatly be the biggest punchers, like prime jones. but julian was a bigger puncher and not nearly as fast as prime jones. so, yes, very complicated.
