No, he didn't. He lost to Canelo's/Oscar's judges.
I didn't see it that way. I saw Lara landing the occasional head shot, Canelo being a lot busier and landed steady, hard body shots. The body shots of Canelo were the most damaging shots of the fight. I didn't see Lara countering enough to win.
88 power punches to 52 power punches from Lara in the Final punchstats. Lara outjabbed him, but it's the hurtful punches that win the fight.
It's the number of rounds won that win a fight, and I remember the full first half of that fight being Lara popping off jabs from distance and being too far out of Canelo's range to take anything in return.
I know how to score a fight. Canelo won the fight IMO.

Using compubox stats works in an argument if the guy you wanted to win, won. Stats were much closer for the Lara fight than for the Trout fight. In either case, it is misleading, especially in the Trout fight. I think the biggest factor in Canelo vs Lara is the one Mexican judge, who was the only one that scored it wide for Canelo. (117-111) One judge in the Trout fight scored basically a shutout for Canelo. Totally bogus, but expect at least one judge to score the fight for Canelo, no matter how the fight goes.
I thought Lara did enough to edge Canelo, and Canelo did enough to edge Trout. Both fights were close.
As far as the Vanes fight, we will see which Lara shows up. He has had some poor performances in the past, and looked nearly unbeatable in some. In any case he should win a decision.

I think they now secured at least two judges. 118-110 and 119-109 vs Cotto were too wide.
