I'm sure Wilder haters will figure out how to blame this on him.
Wilder was protected & ducked everyone, fought bums since his title win in early 2015. He should've fought Povetkin back in late 2015, when Meldonium wasn't banned. F*cking bum. Can now continue to fight other bums.

Nice justification there.

No surprise here. The Soviets/Russians
wrote the book on PED use and it has been a staple of Soviet bloc athletes for decades, at least as far back as the 1960s!!

Its the truth, you can't deny it. And Wilder uses some other PEDs aswell, 100%.

Ryabinsky claims that Povetkin didn't take meldonium after January 1st when it was banned. WBC is "collecting information" to make a decision.
Meldonium is untraceble after a few days, I was a big fan of Povetkin, but Ryabinsky lies, or doesn't know what he's talking about.
*edit: nvm, the info I read about it contradicts on several locations, there's also info that says it can take well over a year.
Nevertheless, I still disrespect Povetkin a lot for even experimenting with such things.

Russians cheating in boxing is about as expected as Brazilians cheating in MMA. Pretty much expected.

Are you genuinely this stupid?
Almost every single athlete earning good money is on PED's.
That includes athletes from the nation that believes in profoundly stupid concepts such as "Manifest Destiny", and other such rubbish.

That's a valid point. However in these circumstances you have to base it on the evidence at hand and the evidence at hand is that Povetkin has popped for using this drug whilst Wilder hasnt popped for anything whether he is taking something or not.

Who'd a thunk it. His fights used to be a bit pedestrian, so he needed to get rid of the estrian I spose.

When one guy gets caught they're all cheating. Isn't that right? If we are being honest I do agree they all cheat. But to different extents. Some guys are on heavy duty stuff. Some guys are on stuff less deliberate.

It was only put on the banned list 120 days ago, and stays in the system longer than that. Found in minute enough quantities to reflect that.
Everybody is using stuff. Some more legal at the moment, some not. Anybody who thinks otherwise is just......
Sad fact of life with the amount of money in
any professional sport.

Everybody earning good whack is on something.
The vast majority not earning good whack, but hoping to, are doing the same.

how much money is ryabinsy out if the fight is called off?
does he even get his deposits back?
wilder had to run a training camp and run up expenses and doesn't get paid? raw deal.
sharapova's excuse ("family doctor" in FINLAND gave it to her) was particularly bad as she
has been living full time in florida since she was 7 and it's not an FDA approved drug.
at least povetkin can make up a fake reason why he took it at some point and it
won't be as laughable even though he's surrounded by russians also testing positive.

The fight should still happen. Fine or punish Povetkin in some way if it's legit.

It's been more than 120 days since Jan 1st. The manufacturers have said it can take several months to get out of the system. It's the middle of May.
I don't disagree with your general point of people using stuff in Pro sports though.

I see this positive test as a minor transgression. If the WBC allows, this fight might still salvageable. Wilder has been in England sparring the last few weeks to prepare. He would be out a lot of money not to mention missing the largest purse of his career. I think he would be pushing for the fight to go ahead if the ball is in his court.

This drug testing baloney is getting totally politicized and I don't believe any of it. Just legalize drugs and knock off the hypocrisy.

These days it's hard to find a Russian athlete who hasn't tested positive for something. The whole damn country is doping. The anti-doping committee is doping.

Like the US is any better. It has really become a contest of who had the better druggists to hide the stuff from the tests and who can sneak some stuff into the other guys food. Time to do away with it.

I would be shocked if Wilder is out a lot of money, unless his promoter and lawyers are morons.
