Sorry dood but it may very well happen and I believe that it will be a co-promotion of Mayweather AND Dana White and after the sale of the UFC this summer.
LOL, McGregor has a contract with the UFC. Not Dana White. No chance in hell this ever happens.

Mayweather says it will happen and wants it to happen. It is well known that Conor McGregor has been looking for a world-class Boxing coach and desperately wants the fight to happen. McGregor knows 3 things: Number 1. The rules will not favor him in any match with Mayweather, in fact everything will be set up to make him fail. Floyd will probably not make the concession that MMA gloves be used and he will have to use Floyd's favorite custom made gloves that have extra padding over the knuckles... 2. Mayweather is 40 years old and has been fighting twice a year... 3. He is a great striker and Mayweather is a weak puncher... 4. The fight will bring him worldwide fame and tons of money
Dana White may not want the fight right now, but he may be

... Resuming the last post ... DanaWhite may be open to negotiations that cut him in on the money and publicity. This could be big for MMA should McGregor beat Mayweather, which Conor McGregor has been trying to assure White he would absolutely happen if the fight takes place. White is highly doubtful - not without reason.

There's a better chance that the Sun will explode tomorrow than Floyd conceding to wear MMA gloves. The fight will be 100% on Floyd's terms or it wouldn't happen. Floyd would concede absolutely nothing to Conor McGregor.
Doesn't matter anyway. Fight's never gonna happen. It's a stupid rumor that will hang around and annoy the sh*t outta me for the next year I imagine, but it'll eventually fade away.

A stand up fight between a boxer and MMA guy is much more fair than a boxer fighting a MMA guy under MMA rules. At least there is a chance standing up. There is absolutely no chance for the boxer under MMA rules. The best street fighters have done MMA type stuff for decades.

Its a street fight Duran would have killed him on the street in the ring or any shape cage you liked

A street fight perhaps, who knows, I've no idea what McGregor is like in a street fight, and nor do you.
In a set of rules that favoured McGregor, obviously McGregor is going to kick Duran's arse, only an imbecile would think otherwise.

He does. However in an mma fight theyll get wrestled and taken down most likely at which point they're fucked.
Someone like rjj would have had a good shot because he was so fast and mobile. Tyson too due to his excellent footwork. If striking is all you have you have to be able to get in and out of range as quickly as possible.

Most of the time. If there were frequent meetings of top guys the boxer has a better chance to land a bomb in mma than the mma fighter does in boxing.

Yes, I'd totally agree, striking is a large part of MMA - the guy who just won the Heavyweight title in MMA is pretty much a kickboxer in style, and he flattened the current champ pretty much with one punch.
Punching is a very effective style of combat.
However, boxers stances are not suited to MMA, as they leave them too vulnerable to kicks to the front leg, takedowns etc. MMA strikers stand more square on than boxers do for this reason.

Of course, that's why the simpletons point out how flawed MMA fighters Boxing is when a normal Boxing stance is a great way to get your front leg shattered. The bottom line is that MMA guys would have a much better chance to build a record in Boxing. Too many lower fighters to scarf up and they also wouldn't suffer from nerves. However, they have no chance at the top level. A boxer, without taking a lengthy time off to train, had no chance of building a record but a punchers chance at the top level. However brief that may be.

Did you see the UFC heavyweight title fight the other day, nothing wrong with Miocic' punch technique, he threw a perfectly timed left hook whilst virtually running backwards from Verdun, an absolute peach of a shot!

The gloves are totally different in MMA. They're tiny and you can't hide behind them in the "Muhammad Ali Defense" because, with those tiny gloves, punches are easier to thread through to the target... so MMA fighters stand off farther and are much more wary of KO shots than in a boxing match. In addition you have to watch out for elbows, hammer fists, back fists, knees, shins, feet, and heel strikes, and numerous blows that are illegal in Boxing... Therefore your radar is really well developed.. You CAN'T AFFORD to take those shots... In boxing, with the bigger and more padded gloves, you have toe-to-toe slugfests that can last several rounds or the whole fight... With the threat of getting blasted out with a single blow you never see that kind of trading in MMA.. It's more like a real fight..
They're gradually getting rid of headgear in Amateur Boxing because they found amateur boxers actually suffer MORE head trauma WITH the headgear.. It's counter intuitive - but the MORE protection you have the more recklessly you fight ... and the more brain trauma you get.

I always had a theory about Headgear that the headgear itself would cause more impact because it would maybe rattle your head more if you were hit on the side of the head than it would without headgear being on.
I'm glad they're not using headgear at this years Olympics though. I've always wanted to see that since I started following the sport.

....and you'd be right, which is why they've got rid of them in amateur boxing, the headgear actually spreads the impact of the blow causing more rattling of the brain inside the skull.
Also, bigger gloves spread the impact of the blow across the cramium too.
Smaller gloves mean less spreading of the force, and more localised impact, also, smaller gloves mean you can't load up with shots as much or you'll break your hands.

No because Duran was a FAT PIG like Hatton between fights.. He had NO skills with elbows, hammer fists, back fists... kicks such as knee, foot, and heel strikes... take downs, ground and pound, and submission holds... and the fatty would mail the fight in like he did with Kirkland Laing.

Stipe Miocic (who just won the UFC Heavyweight Title) has a pretty good wrestling background and even qualified for the NCAA Division 1 tournament one year.
