Very clever of him. Maximum money for minimum risk, minimum effort and possibly minimal training.

Like I said before, he's got Briggs to do all that publicity for their upcoming fight, build it as an event - and potentially get a world title shot from the profile he's gained.

OK, but is Haye going to be able to take care of himself in there, when he gets the title shot? Coming off possibly zero competitive action. Is he going to come in better shape, every fight?

He wants to get to a championship ship fight but isn't concerned at all about building proper ring fitness, stamina, momentum? To,give himself the best chance of winning

It may accord with how the market economy functions, but it isn't right. Yes, I know plenty of boxing history. The fact that this is the done thing doesn't make it right, and having the option of not watching is no answer to the basic injustice that rich people can get richer off serving up this kind of shít.

Some people are enjoying the Haye comeback. I was at the DeMori fight and it was a brilliant night. I knew it was a mismatch, loved it anyway.

As far as this somehow ripping people off... consenting adults make a choice to either buy tickets or not. You might not like Haye's comeback but plenty of other people do. Don't assume they are all a bunch of schmucks.

Haye's a former lineal cruiserweight champion and former WBA title holder at heavyweight. He's also an entertaining fighter to watch and has got himself into the position to make a lot of money by selling himself to the public and making his fights seem like a big deal.

He's not some talentless Eton toff who's had everything in life handed to him on a plate. Is he taking money out of other fighter's pockets? Why is his success an insult to any other fighters?

Maybe if these other 'hard done by' fighters put as much effort in as Haye then they'd be the ones making a lot of money.

This isn't a overnight thing. Haye has been great at maximising his public appearances and has been well known by the 'casual' pretty much as soon as he turned over.
The guy understands the business side of things and manages to maximise his earnings using his celeb status.
99.9% of boxers wish they could do what Haye did last night. Fight a overmatched opponent for a million quid and get the majority of people buzzing about a future fight.
Haye is a natural athlete, big puncher and good all round boxer. If he does decide to step it up you've got to give him a chance.

sounds like a description of his fight with Audley from a few years ago. Haye isn't my favourite personality and he's been in some really crap fights. Audley. This latest one (I never gave it the time of day...think the guy was called Giegjjggjieg (let's gall him GGG for short ) and Klitschko..........but for all that he rose above the pile in some cross-road fights - Macarinelli, took care of Chisora in a lovely performance by everybody. After he's retired my favourite fight of David Haye's will probably still be Fragomeni. Cracking fight that. Follwed by Thompson - but that's thanks to Carl rather than Haye.

thanks for bringing up Audley. Remember what that fight did to prepare Haye for the super fight. The fight gained publicity but he had no idea what to do once he got in there withWlad.

Maybe Hearn will be sympathetic however in making the Joshua fight. After all it was Prize Fighter that reestablished the Hearn family as a force - and "A Force" Audley was the PF winner who, promoted by Hearn at the time I believe, took his momentum to a heavyweight title fight on PPV.

thats the depressing thing. He has serious credentials and he can do better than this. Gjergjaj was worse than de Mori, the first comeback fight. And he was worse than Bonin, Haye's first heavyweight opponent about 7 or 8 years ago.

Haye's a former world amateur silver medalist. Like you say, he beat the champ at cruiser, Mormeck. In a brave and powerful performance. Unified with Maccarinelli in the big Battle of Britain we all demanded.

But also his reputation is badly damaged by the Wlad fight. Wlad throwing Haye on the floor whenever Haye did get close didn't help. But also questioned whether Haye should be even fighting as a heavyweight. The excuse was pitiful- if you had a bad toe, why would you run so much?

Haye has done well to make money after that. He was outstanding versus Chisora. Then the Fury fiasco, pulling out, getting cut up in hard sparring so close to the big day. This dented his reputation again, giving Fury the reason to dismiss him as a "bottle job"

He's definitely shown some business sense building up this high publicity Briggs rivalry. Was it planned from the start or did Haye shrewdly improvise given the opportunity?

It's just a shame someone of his ability is putting on such a poor spectacle, and not even getting the rounds that will help him during the inevitable world title fight. He seems to have sacrificed his dignity. His opponents are awful - from countries of minimal boxing pedigree, Switzerland (and the Aussie scene is pretty weak) - and his fitness doesn't look too hot.

Right now, what's to like?

I liked that Foreman was fighting every month or two. Obviously he had a bigger battle getting in shape and was older.

Would like to see Haye, who's not that old, turn up in better shape.

For me logic says Haye should be irrelevant. We have got THE heavyweight champion of the world now.

Haye to me is known for bottling it against Wlad and blaming his toe where as Fury goes in and dominates Wlad and Haye is still more popular.

The people that bought tickets to that crap on Saturday really have no clue
