Hard to see it any other way. I'm almost convinced now Canelo wants no part of GGG.

And late last year I argued with a mate that Canelo would beat GGG I was a fool for opening my mouth.........One that thinks there beatin are almost certainly beatin...

I was just thinking about this situation where a well-known fighter's perceived 'duck' threatens to eclipse the work he did in the ring. Can people name examples of this magnitude in history?

From Canelo's perspective, he's been pretty unlucky here. The stars have aligned with the mandatory thing. However I can't recall an example of another fighter who had all the other belts being named as a mandatory for the remaining major belt. Has it even happened before?

70-30 would probably just about have been acceptable, Canelo is the star, but now he's taking a big risk, is he going to stay as popular after this.

he is damaging his rep badly here.

I don't believe for a minute that it is Canelo making these demands.
It is Oscar

Me either - if he wants to ever have this fight, he'll either have to get out of his contract, or hope Golovkin calls their bluff.

Good!

Hopefully this is just the kind of insult that will make Gennady realise he should ignore this shitebag and get on with his career, by fighting and beating middleweight champions, then move up and leave Canelo without his superfight.

70/30 is fine at 160. If Canelo wants to buy 2-3 pounds, then it should be like 65/35 at 158 or 55/45 at 157.

I can rememeber about 8-9 years ago when Golden Boy were starting out and promising a brighter day and promoting fighters and boxing in a new, innovative approach. They have lowered the bar further than ever with their approach.

Every boxer turned promoter says that, then he becomes a promoter and realises just how different it is.

I think though that Oscar's misjudged this situation, I think it hurts Canelo's marketability to duck the fight, if he fought and lost to GGG, he'd still be a big name and would have everybody's respect.
