I thought both Eubank's acted with dignity during both the post fight interview and the press conference, Just my opinion. Blackwell's entitled to his opinion, but if he hadn't been in a coma, would he have said the same? Who knows,

I can only draw on my initial reaction to their interview and I thought it was in very poor taste to be honest and all about preserving their image and coming out of it all looking well.
The way Eubank Snr left it on the table that he told his son to target the body and not the head, as some sort of favour, looked bad on the referee but good on him. We all know it was tactical and nothing more, but he didn't squash the notion in the public's minds that it was advice given to preserve the opponent's health.
If i'd put someone in a coma and their family asked me not to discuss it, and the boxing board also asked me not to do it - then I'd respect their wishes on the matter. But to kick them to the kerb and go ahead and do it whilst the lad was still in a coma, says it all really.
I do (somewhat) agree Blackwell should have kept his powder dry and not kicked off in the red tops on the subject. The incident happened and he was fortunate to walk away relatively unscathed with his whole life ahead of him. Nobody wanted it to happen, nobody is to blame for it happening and it would have been better to have moved on.

This seems all about setting up a possible law suit, for compensation to me, firstly Eubank jr wanted to see Blackwell in hospital and had something for him, he messaged him and his team, they did not except his request, now this media attack, blaming the Eubanks for being interviewed, looks like Blackwell is being advised here.

I do not want to say this, but I think Blackwell is coming out of this terribly. Criticize the Eubank's all you want - for all of the other nonsense, but as soon as that fight ended, they've been nothing but dignified and respectful.

Can you imagine if Blackwell had beaten Eubank jr, what the response would of been, with the childish Billie Joe and co ?

What on earth are you talking about? There's absolutely no grounds for a lawsuit here.
Utter cobblers, there will be no lawsuit.

good post

Yeah I agree. And Eubank Jnr offering the British title belt to Blackwell as a 'goodwill gesture' smacks of both condescension and crass publicity seeking. Really awful taste that - and Blackwell's right to pull them up on their post-fight behaviour.
Good on him.
(Just stay away from The Sun, Nick)

Indeed and Eubank Jr was planning on giving the Lonsdale belt to Nick at the hospital but they refused his request to visit. Nick is a true warrior but needs to show more class. Eubank did nothing wrong here.

I guess there's a lot of complicated emotions going on, awaking out of the coma to realise that your career is over and everything is changed.

These kind of accidents in the ring are never going to end. Its the sorry truth of any fighting sport. If you are not prepared to be injured and know the consiquences you need to take up another sport. this is the hurtin game after all.
I have no opinion of the interview, but as ive said before I do not think Eubank Sr was thinking of Blackwells safety in the ring with the 'body' comment. I feel that Eubank Sr could see that blackwell was a bloody tough lad and it was unlikely that blackwell was going to be knocked out. I really think that Sr wanted jr to weaken the body and see if he could stop him that way. If Sr was thinking of Blackwells safety he would have made that more clear as after all he had a microphone stuck in his face. I think that the comment and the accident have just interwound and become a total different story, but Mr Eubank has capitolised on the comments to make him look more humane. I will never know but for sure but thats how I interpited it at the time.

I don't know what world you live in, but in the real world you can sue for almost anything ? Since when did you become a Solicitor lol.

When he was telling Eubank jr to go to the body I do not think it was because he was getting concerned about blackwells health. I feel that Eubank knew blackwell was a tough kid and had a strong chin so the only way to stop him was by going to the body and weakening him up there.
I just feel that Sr jumped on this comment to make himself look like a hero.
^^^ Hitting the nail on the head
I believe that when people heard this/read this quote they misunderstood the reason for targeting the body and Sr probably just went along with it. He knew Blackwell wasn't gonna be stopped to the head.

There are no grounds for a lawsuit, simple as that.
If they wanted to try and claim emotional trauma from their statements, they could try, but it would be laughed out of court, the only way a lawyer would try and bring a lawsuit is if they paid out shed loads of cash, which they would then lose, as there would be no chance of winning.

I think most in the boxing game can see that Eubank Snr wasn't thinking of Blackwell's health when he was saying Jnr should go to the body, it was simply a tactical move to try and finish the fight as Blackwell is so tough.
So in that respect I can see that Blackwell and anyone else might have something to say about it and call Snr out for the media whore that he is.
Two sides to every story but it seems Blackwell is now lashing out when he should be focusing on his recovery. £££ from The Sun probably helped with that though.

Think people should give Blackwell a little slack here, he's just lost his livelihood, It's not entirely surprising if he's reacting this way.

Eubank snr should just fornicate off. I wasn't buying the whole show-some-mercy and hit the body bullshit he peddled afterwards. Why is he even still in the limelight? He's nothing but a sleeveless freakshow, a faux-eccentric joke. Your time is up old man, and has been since Calzaghe took you to school. He should just step aside and let his son get on with his own career.

The Eubanks came over well on tv in answering Nick Blackwell's claims and Eubank jr is even still offering to give Blackwell, despite the accusations, because has he put it "He is a warrior" his British title belt, now either he has bought it outright from the board or the Board have given it to him, to carry out his gesture, as Eubank jr has only fought for it once.

Poor judgement from Blackwell.
He is very bitter & misguided & whoever is advising him is doing a bad job.
I hope he makes a full recovery, but I have no desire to hear anymore of his pathetic whining.

I dunno, depends just how upset his family where at the time. It was obv an emotionally charged situation, and if they went directly against the family's requests I can understand him being peeved.
I don't think it's about being "bitter" as people are so tactfully saying. He makes it clear his feelings don't stem from the fight or result but their behaviour after,
I
