Pretty sure Froch-Taylor was the opening bout if the Super-Six tournament, rather than a voluntary/mandatory.

Surely they could just say "no, he's not good/high profile enough".
Then again, easy money is probably a hard thing to turn down when you've got kids and a mortgage.

It was the previous fight before SS,Froch won a contentious SD over Dirrell in his opening bout and Taylor got KO'd in the last again by Abraham

And 16 years since he fought The Pitbull which adds even more emphasis to how ridiculous this match up really is.

No, Froch was having this caliber of fights, 2 fights before the super 6 began, the thrillers with Pascal and Taylor.

i was listening to it on the radio.
In round 11 I was in despair and was about to go to bed.
Then the twelfth round finish!
It was televised at a later date and I loved the exchanges in the last three rounds. The finish was astonishing. Froch must have rained down 100 power punches, leaving Taylor squatting with his head between his own knees.

Was chuffed when Froch recaptured this form after the super 6, against Bute, Kessler and Groves.

Must say, miss Froch being around the boxing scene.
Wish he'd fought GGG, what a tear up that would have been, I'd have made him a very slight favourite, but win or lose, that would have been a cracker.
Think Carl retired at the right time though, there were signs his punch resistance might be starting to go a tad, though his powers of recovery seemed to still be there, and with his style, that was never going to bode well.

Loved his career.
That guy didn't need a matchmaker like most holders of world titles over here.
He just got stuck in against anyone.
In years to come I hope he's regarded over here in the same way that DannyLopez and Bobby Chacon are in America, for going to war in world class fights again and again.

Yep. Just checked and you're 100% correct. Watched both the Pascal and Taylor (ITV2 on 24 hour delay) fights on free-to-air (remember that?).
Both were super bouts. I'm not sure we'll ever see a homegrown champ like Froch again. His resume is/was superb.

Well that guy was as bad as it seemed. Total joke of a so-called world championship fight. Empty venues and having to give away tickets to get bums in seats is hardly surprising....

Smith should just defend his title against all of the WBO rated domestic fighters, if he doesn't want to fight anyone close to fringe world level.
At least then we might get some half decent domestic fights out of it.

I don't know why Frank bothers promoting anymore. He should just focus his money and time on the channel and securing international rights to the best fights. That's what the channel is best for imo. Obviously whether that's commercially viable or not is a different matter.

He's hardly got any fighters worth caring about now. That where would he display them if he took the money out of the channel to put on better shows?
