Funny how Adonis didn't act nearly as eager when they were actually on the same network and were being lined up to fight. Some of the major issues that are making the match hard to sign were created by Adonis when he signed with Haymon and jumped ship to a rival network right when a fight with Kovalev seemed ready to be made, although even as HBO was pushing it Adonis never came across as too excited about facing Kovalev:

'So who do you want to fight Adonis?'
'Uh, Bernar Hopkin, and uh, Carl Froch!" (but of course since Fonfara it's been Tommy Karpency, Thomas 'Gabriel, stop hitting my eye' Williams, Dimitry Sukhostky, and ole, blown up Sakio)
"But what about Sergey Kovalev?'
"Well, uh, ya maybe I fight him, but hey Monreal, who want to see me fight Bernar Hopkin and Carl Froch?"

I'm disappointed that Kovalev's side didn't go through with the bid, but I don't think it would've come to that had Adonis been willing in the first place when there weren't as many obstacles in place.
