NBP is decent guys but Boxing Asylum has kicked its arse of late, from the chat on the show to the production. I went to listen back to NBP late last night n only 15 mins of it was uploaded to YouTube even though the video said it was two hours long. Boxing Coalition is also excellent. The Asylum's Punches From The Past spin-off show is first class !

the Asylum has always been better. NBP is alright and I quite like some of them, like the Welsh geezer is good and knows his stuff, but Shep's posh voice is annoying, that Rocco bloke is an idiot and Brian King just comes across really obnoxious although, conversely, the show suffers from his absence as he has not been on it of late (was on the Asylum last night though.) they have also done some proper cringeworthy stuff: the "we didn't ruin boxing" song was pathetic, and the "interview with Eddie Hearn"
was so tragic I had to turn it off.

I like to download and listen to the podcasts rather than YouTube them and while the Asylum is bad at it, NBP are terrible at getting their podcasts up and ready to download. It's like Ring magazine that comes out a month after the fight has happened. What's the point?

NPB is actually better than the Asylum the past couple of weeks to give them credit. Carpy (that's the host, right?) is pretty good and the panel has just been more on point and funnier, especially with Shep and Brian gone, both of which do my nut in.

Maybe I'm alone, but as a avid listener of both I think NBP is the better of the two at the moment.

Sheps seemed quite knowledgeable, just had a but too much to say for himself.
Brian cracked me up so i'd love to have him back on.
Agreed, NBP is definatley better listening than the Asylum at the moment...

NextBigPod is a far better pod,has been for over 6 months+

Asylum used to just be laugh, all the old nutters of boxingguru mostly but its getting boring as fornicate now tbh.The format of the show used to be a lot more relaxed, now its turned very set every week and lets be honest they hardly break down the fights do they. Some domestic fights get a namecheck and thats it..I appreciate the lads do this for free and give their time up every week but the format is stinking at the moment.

I've always preferred the Asylum, as I said above because I didn't really like the NBP humour and it seemed mean spirited (the Olympics 'coverage' for instance this year was just bile about Anthony Fowler and them saying how shit it was and that they weren't even watching it, which was annoying because I thought the Olympic boxing was really good fun this time around, and I stopped listening to it for a bit after that). But the current team seems to be pretty good, all quite likeable, the host actually sounds cheerful like he's enjoying himself... Haven't listened to the latest one yet but really enjoying it the past couple of weeks or so.

I cannot see how anyone can prefer NBP, it is utter horseshite. That guy who hosts may watch fights and drop in a few relevant facts but he does not feel or know boxing in the slightest. Every week I start off listening and within half an hour switch off when he starts talking twoddle. Last week he was on about Chisora needing to retire which was puzzling and the rest showed their confusion. A guy bangs out his best performance in years and shows desire and this twat thinks that is the signal to retire?

Asylum is far superior

Next Big Pod went shit as soon as Brian King left. King and Shep, especially when together, provided just the right balance of humor and seriousness.

Asylum has become a bit repetitive. They give too much time to guest callers like Amir Khan (not the boxer), and feel it's ok with the listeners to regularly belch into their microphone - stupid stuff like that just takes away from their credibility. When I'm commuting I want to listen to a podcast, not somebody belching into my ear.
