Here's one, a well-known Kiwi by the name of Bob Fitzsimmons, who took on light-heavies and quite a few heavies

Bob, coming in at 156 pounds fought Bill Lang at 187 pounds at the Sydney Stadium for a title. Earlier Bob bulked up to 172 pounds to fight Jim Jefferies at 219 pounds.

Also Bob stepped into the ring with a certain Jack Johnson.

They are professional boxers at the end of their respective roads and have the opportunity to fight for the second biggest purse of each of their careers.

Do you really think they should do themselves out of millions of dollars just because in trash talking each other they said they wouldn't fight each other again?

Well Ali sacrificed years and millions on principle these 2 don't have any. Anyway this fight is a must miss provided Danny gets through the 8th best Australian CW at whatever catchweight him and Kane fight at.

This century is only 16 years old and the cruiserweight division was only officially recognised about 35 years ago.

Boxers have been giving away weight since boxing began and continue to do so. There are many, many examples of boxers giving away over 10kg to their opponents. Nothing new there. Take a look at Ron Richard's career just for one example.

WBC kicked off with 1st world cruiserweight title in 1979 (Dec 8) and WBA waited until 1982 and then recognized Ossie Ocasio as its champ, after he outpointed Robbie Wilson

100 and probably many more. But what would be the point of listing them? It has happened innumerable times.

Likewise, what would be the point of debating Mundine's career vs Green's career again? How many times, over how many years and by how many people does it need to be done before it has been done to death? Does anyone really want to go there again? Surely not!

I give Green his dues for his career pre first retirement Lucas,Beyer 1, and come on mate Mundine fought Lester Ellis. It's only since he won the IBO CW title that the Dannyweight rubbish started. He promised his fans Hopkins,Adamek,Haye and delivered rubbish. I would like to see Mundine beat him too(Mundine is the lesser of 2 Richard heads ) but I doubt it.

Muhammad Ali has probably influenced everybody who laced up a glove for the past 50 years. Plus millions more who never have.

It is absurd to compare Mundine and Green with the most famous and influential figure in boxing history. Just as it is absurd to single out Green for being "influenced"" by Ali when the reason Mundine took up boxing was he wanted to be like Muhammad Ali:

Matchmaking is promoters' responsibility.

Yeah, but he got knocked out by Tarver and Wlodarkzyk, two of the best fighters to have graced our shores (up there with Roy Jones Jr, who, along with Tarver and Wlod, Green brought out here and Zoom Zoom Nelson and Jack Johnson, among others), so it's understandable why that didn't come off, in fact, after Green stopped Jones Jr. Hopkins chose to fight Jones Jr. In the states.

Sure, Green has had some very low points, and promoting himself at the time only he is responsible for, like the Paul Briggs fiasco,

Antonio Tarver and Krzysztof Wlodarczyk in particular, were, and remain, class opponents.

Wlodarczyk was 45-2-1 and the WBC champion when he met Green. He then made 3 more successful defences after Green. Before falling to Grigory Drozd, the best cruiserweight in the world. Wlodarczyk's record stands at an outstanding 51-3-1.

Antonio Tarver has quite simply been an ATG of the sport. His record includes 2 wins against a very good version of Roy Jones just for starters. Tarver was 28-6 when he met Green, and those losses were to huge name opponents because the guy walked the walk and fought the very best. Tarver hasn't lost since fighting Green and most recently beat the 29-2-1 Johnathon Banks and drew Steve USS Cunningham.
