Bob, coming in at 156 pounds fought Bill Lang at 187 pounds at the Sydney Stadium for a title. Earlier Bob bulked up to 172 pounds to fight Jim Jefferies at 219 pounds.
Also Bob stepped into the ring with a certain Jack Johnson.

I guess the Hatley loss has shown him his level and he will cash out against Green hope he doesn't
suffer any long term damage from all the hits to the head he's taken. Meanwhile we have to endure this build up for 6-7 months,great.![]()
Still think he should fight Geale if he beats Quinlan it's closer to his optimum weight range and he could probably make another few mill like there last fight did. And it would be for another ''world title'' as well as ticking Green off.![]()

They are professional boxers at the end of their respective roads and have the opportunity to fight for the second biggest purse of each of their careers.
Do you really think they should do themselves out of millions of dollars just because in trash talking each other they said they wouldn't fight each other again?
This century is only 16 years old and the cruiserweight division was only officially recognised about 35 years ago.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:Beltane wrote:Here's one, a well-known Kiwi by the name of Bob Fitzsimmons, who took on light-heavies and quite a few heaviesLET ME KNOW WHEN YOU FIND THAT JR MIDDLE WHO FIGHTS CRUISERWEIGHT'

100 and probably many more. But what would be the point of listing them? It has happened innumerable times.coneye wrote:Can bring up a 100 fighters in the last 100 years ,who gave away weight it does;nt alter the fact that this is a nonsence retirement fight for 2 aging boxers ,, I would love to see Mundine smash him , Mundine put his balls on the line many a time .. Boxers have been giving away weight since boxing began and continue to do so. There are many, many examples of boxers giving away over 10kg to their opponents. Nothing new there. Take a look at Ron Richard's career just for one example.
Ali had principles Mundine and Green don't that was the point I was making. Green actually said Ali influenced his career.bogan whisperer wrote:You are comparing Mundine and Green to Muhammad AliDA GOOSE wrote:Well Ali sacrificed years and millions on principle these 2 don't have any. Not really. Respective legislation allows them to approve or disapprove registration, but not fights.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:Boxing commissions were set up to protect fighter's from them self and to regulate people like Team Danny Green
Yeah, but he got knocked out by Tarver and Wlodarkzyk, two of the best fighters to have graced our shores (up there with Roy Jones Jr, who, along with Tarver and Wlod, Green brought out here and Zoom Zoom Nelson and Jack Johnson, among others), so it's understandable why that didn't come off, in fact, after Green stopped Jones Jr. Hopkins chose to fight Jones Jr. In the states.DA GOOSE wrote:I give Green his dues for his career pre first retirement Lucas,Beyer 1, and come on mate Mundine fought Lester Ellis. Matchmaking is promoters' responsibility.
