For GGG I can understand that any fight is better than no fight if he can't get someone to face him. But I'd much rather he fought someone his own size. At least he usually does than this is the exception rather than the rule.

Digging deep to try to vector a defense of your heart throb's ducking of 3G aren't you kid?

This reflects more negatively on GingerHead than it does on 3G. Brook is willing to fight 3G but GingerHead isn't. 3G is fighting a more dangerous / tough opponent (Brook) than GingerHead did (Khan). Brook is actually a legit champ at 147. Khan? Not so much. 3G is going to Brook's lair to fight him. GingerHead? Not so much.

This is not my optimum preference for a 3G opponent, but Brook is superior to GingerHead's choice of The King of the Chicken Dance. This more than anything signals that Brook can no longer make 147, IMO. Also, I think that Brook will be the most skilled and gifted boxer that 3G has faced in the pros (as well as vice versa, obviously).

I happen to think Brook would give Yellowbreast Alvarez a damn good fight, but that's by the by.

I agree, but I doubt GingerHead would take a fight with Brook at all, and absolutely not a chance in hell across the pond.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Kid, time to shut TFU.

These are the sort of fights that happen when nobody else wants to take the fight

#1 welter calls out #1 Middle and, due to good fortune, gets his wish. A fair bit different than Alvarez and GBP pursuing Khan, not even a top ten welter to avoid other fights that were barking at the door, hey?

I was one of those guys who criticized Canelo for Khan and its deserve it to this day but GGG deserves the same amount of Shiite for Brook and don't give that Brook is big for weight stuff you know what that makes him a Jr middie still not a middleweight before fight should get/got the same amount of outrage neither Canelo nor GGG should get passes.

Did you criticise Marvin Hagler for fighting Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns & Sugar Ray Leonard?

Different era and your talking about all time greats moving up Kell Brook is NOT that.

You can only become an ATG by being given the chance to prove it.

Kell Brook has a world title trinket in the welterweight division & as such, he has the right to wish to go up & test himself against bigger men.

If Brook somehow wins, then he 'might' go on to become an ATG.

Golovkin has made many defences of his trinket & has taken on everyone with balls to fight him at 160, so in the absence of any other meaningful challenge, why not fight someone who is looking to move up?

1) They where already established as ATG when they step up
2) Brook "might" become an ATG if he beats GGG AND move on to other things that's a lot "MIGHTS"
3) For GGG there's always challenging himself and moving up doesn't he want to be great to. I guess not. I guess like how about looking down for a challenge. Want to be great how having someone move up. Yeah that works

The reason Golovkin's team took the Brook fight is that it was available within two days. Golovkin wants to fight at least 3 times a year, and they already lost a lot of time waiting for Canelo and then Eubank Jr to go into hiding. They couldn't afford even another month of negotiations with somebody.

Canelo had almost any opponent available, and he chose Khan.

That's pretty amazing how all you have to do is beat David Lemieux and Daniel Geale to be ranked ahead of Bernard Hopkins. That's like if a heavyweight is ranked above Lennox Lewis just for beating Bermane Stiverne and Dereck Chisora.

I would not have criticized Golovkin for fighting Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard. If you think Kell Brook is as good as Hearns and Leonard, you are absolutely out of your f*cking mind.

He must of forgot Hopkins or even Roy Jones.

I don't like this fight, but Golovkin basically had to take it if he wanted to fight 3 times this year. He couldn't afford another month of negotiations. The only fights which could be made fast would be somebody like Turreano Johnson or Heiland, and he would likely only get a half of his potential Brook purse while getting a lot of criticism anyway.

They wouldn't have taken the fight on 2 days notice and I very much doubt that any 168ers would have taken it either, what is he supposed to do

Like I said about this earlier, it is obviously a cherry pick and for the money. What makes me laugh is people making excuses for GGG now fighting Brook. Anyway, I like the fight and look forward to it, despite GGG being a hypocrite going on to the media about how Khan vs Canelo was bad for boxing.

How is he hypocritical? Who wanted to fight him? I think Brook is probably the sternest test of his career. Granted, I didn't mind Canelo/Khan either.

I never said any such thing.

You said that Golovkin shouldn't be be fighting welterweights; you didn't say he shouldn't be fighting Kell Brook.

I asked about Hagler because he fought welterweights too, but he was fortunate that those welterweights were ATGs.

It's not Golovkin's fault that Brook isn't an ATG, but he is a 'world champion' & one of the best welters around today & having fought everyone that had a spine at 160, why not accept the challenge of a 'champion' from a lower division if he hasn't got anyone else to fight?

so is this about the title of the thread or the comments in the first post?
What GGG has decided to takes nothing away from how appalling Canelo's decision was to face Khan. Comparing Brook and Khan, Brook is a much better opponent BUT he shouldnt be fighting GGG. Guys like Quillin, BJS, Eubank, N'Jikam or Soliman - surely at least one of those guys were available instead of grabbing a guy two weight classes down regardless of his ability.
A loss for Kell does no damage especially if he returns to Welter welterweight and continues winning the way he is. Anything short of a KO will hurt GGG and again question his PPV status.
Is it being fought at the full middleweight limit or some Canelo style weight agreement?

Anyone thinking that this is going to be a good fight is either a Brit or an idiot. I know that those two are pretty much the same but I'm sure there's a realistic Brit somewhere up in the hills in England who knows how bad this fight really is.

GGG is my favorite athlete but I'm not happy with this choice as Brook is unreliable and just not good enough.
