There's no such thing as a "running" fighter. There's nowhere to run in a Boxing ring.boxing_rocks wrote:Of course, they are running less against opponents who can't hurt them. Before Postol, Crawford was fighting either little guys or limited fighters.
Yeah!gilgamesh wrote:The goofy thing is Pacquiao would actually be the defending Ring Magazine Welterweight Champion if he hadn't fake retired for a couple of months.allInmoderationAIM wrote:Pacquiao is the MAN!
There is more than enough space to run for a skilled boxer, especially when your opponent can't cut a ring well enough.gilgamesh wrote:There's no such thing as a "running" fighter. Sour grapes? Aren't you one of the people that picked Postol to win by KO? Its obvious you dislike Crawford and his style of boxing. That is ok. Personally, I hate Khan and his style.boxing_rocks wrote:Of course, they are running less against opponents who can't hurt them. You are an idiot. The only reason I picked up Postol and doubled on that is that I joined later in the year and was taking my chances to move up in points while most would get 0. I knew that my chances weren't very good.Badhusker wrote:Sour grapes? Aren't you one of the people that picked Postol to win by KO? Its obvious you dislike Crawford and his style of boxing. Crawford is far more aggressive than Lara.boxing_rocks wrote:You are an idiot. Crawford could finish Postol, but he picked Lara's way of doing things. Fighting Lara's way will not work well for him in terms of drawing power outside of Nebraska.
The only times I recall Mayweather being particularly aggressive in fights were when he was facing an opponent that was a sitting duck that he damn near couldn't miss.Badhusker wrote:
Me too. You are right, Crawford fights much more aggressively than Lara, or Mayweather in the latter part of his career. Roach himself said Crawford had a similar ability to move around the ring, but also had a lot of power in his shots, and hurt Postol often. He doesn't want the fight for Manny next, and that should speak volumes.
Yep, Postol didn't follow up with his pressure, but it doesn't change the fact that Crawford avoided engaging for 11+ rounds.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:The only running in the fight was postol fleeing in the 12th after he pressed and pissed Crawford off.
He never avoided an exchange. Everytime they exchanged postol got out of there. This is like pac/may where everyone blamed Floyd because Manny fought like a kitten. Yes, Crawford was faster and otherwise better in exchanges, so he could take Postol out, but he selected to dance for 12 rounds.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He never avoided an exchange. What fight were you watching? Crawford engaged in way more than one round. Rewatch the fight...it's obvious you've got beef with TC.boxing_rocks wrote:Yep, Postol didn't follow up with his pressure, but it doesn't change the fact that Crawford avoided engaging for 11+ rounds.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:The only running in the fight was postol fleeing in the 12th after he pressed and pissed Crawford off.
Solid take. Pac has way more left than most people give him credit for. I expect a very close fight with Terence's speed helping him to win a close but clearcut decision.NateJR wrote:I think at this stage of their careers Crawford would squeak by with a close decision. 5 years ago I think the fight is about even, but would probably pick Manny to win.. Personally I think Pacquiao is just as hard to beat now as he was 5 years ago. Pacquiao focuses more on his defense and boxing now, and with his speed he's hard to handle fighting like that. I don't think Crawford is as good as Floyd, especially not in the speed and defensive department. Pacquiao was always great, he still is, he's just not the offensive juggernaut like he used to be, but he fights more disciplined now, which makes him still a very tough fighter to beat.
Pac did have Bradley's number, but I think Pac vs Crawford is more about a bad style match-up. Bradley very narrowly beat a 40 yr old JMM, and struggled with Provo, and also with Chavez. You could make arguments that those bouts were closer or not so close, depending on who you like I guess. After a nearly 2 yr layoff, Floyd absolutely schooled a much younger JMM. Did that make him automatically #1pfp over Manny since Manny struggled with JMM? No. PFP rankings are based on performance, but also opinion, so I don't put much stock in them.Lackeos wrote:If Pacquiao can still school Bradley, then he has a pretty solid chance of beating Crawford. I know that most posters here either never knew anything about boxing, quickly forget what they knew, or show terrible judgment despite knowing things. So it's probably necessary to remind some people that Timothy Bradley beat Juan Manual F*CKING Marquez. JMM was ranked like p4p #2 or #3 at the time, and that's the dude that Bradley beat. Crawford beat Postol and Gamboa, that's nice, but Bradley beat JUAN MANUEL F*CKING MARQUEZ! Timothy Bradley reached like #6 p4p before he ran into the freight train that is Pacquiao, and got dominated 3 times, despite 1 crooked decision. So anyways, Pacquiao might be close to retirement, but he's still a monster, and could probably pull-out a 7-5 or 8-4 win over Crawford if he is able to still get an 8-4 over Bradley.

With that style, very Floyd-like, he's going to be extremely difficult to beat. Manny will have a very difficult time dealing with all that length and athletic movement. I'd tell Bob to go screw if i'm Manny.
I was watching the fight where Crawford was moving non-stop sideways along the ropes throwing jabs and occasional straight lefts. He demonstrated his advantage, dropped Postol, but kept doing the same boring routine instead of trying to stop Postol which he was able to do. I doubt that HBO will be throwing any big money at him, so he will have to keep doing PPVs. Let's see how this one did.Best Coast wrote:What fight were you watching?
