Last month I was out to lunch and was charged 17 quid for a 330 ml bottle of IPA and 16 quid for a prawn baguette. I had no option but to start laughing.

I`ve lived there for 20 years now and I still reel in shock at the prices.

Back home in Wakefield I can go to the Lupset working mens club and get a pint of bitter for about 2.50. The blokes that drink in there don`t believe me when I tell them what it costs in Norway.

I told one bloke to go and find out for himself and his answer was pure class. He told me that he couldn`t go as he didn`t have a passport Leaving Yorkshire even for one night would send the bugger into a cold sweat.

Fvck me...I thought it was bad here in Qatar.
6 quid a pint in Happy hour, 10 quid upwards is the standard


Although if you consider that price as a percentage of salary it's probably equivalent to average UK prices

Oh indeed, my local (sadly now under new, sanitised ownership) the Queen's Head, in Stockwell, was one of the best boozers I've ever frequented, lock ins almost every single night of the week, bands, DJ's, it was complete mayhem, there was a kind of fucked up VIP cellar where you could get twatted with the regulars - at first I was glad it closed down, as it was 1 minute 30 seconds from my front door at a brisk trot, and I'd been known to go for a 'couple' at 10.00 p.m and stagger out totally clattered at 11.00 a.m on a Wednesday morning, missing work, without phoning in.

Now, I miss it dearly, like a rather jocular alcoholic uncle who used to liven up family gatherings , who recently passed away.

Hasnt Norway got one of the world's best economies per capita? Also I'm sure I read an article awhile back relating to a huge government investment fund they have which has investments all over the world and in a wide variety of industries.

The exteriors tend to be all decorated the same, I guess so tourists can tell it's supposed to be a pub. As said, you don't get much change for a fiver a pint.

I live in Croydon, for my sins. Some servicable pubs there, and pints are usually around £3.70 or £3.80. (For the bog standard lagers I drink.)

I like the 2 boozers in Leadenhall Market in the City (The Lamb & New Moon) during the day

bit punchy, but they know that no ones pays out of their own money so its all good

Still a pound in Spain, wages are horrible though

Norway has a huge budget surplus I believe, they're talking about a citizens wage in Scandanavian countries, no welfare system, just every single citizen gets 600 euros a month or thereabouts to live on whether they are in work or not, it's an interesting idea, because then you don't have to waste money employing the kind of deadheads who work in job centres and it allows people to accumulate savings whilst in work.

The current model of welfare doesn't work very well, it's inefficient and people slip through the net all the time.

I used to work down in Surrey and shared digs with some nurses. They used to go into Croydon quite a lot for a night out and always enjoyed it.

Can't say I agree. Is small, dark and wooden everything. No comfort at all. Like having a pint in a shed. Location though.

The Church Hill Arms on Kensington Church Street is breathtaking. Inside is massive.

And i thought Stockholm was expensive! I was not very impressed with the Swedish tottie, expected a lot more, hopefully Oslo rights that wrong, and turfs up Scandanavias finest.

Standard price for a pint of Peroni in most decent pubs/bars in London is about £5.30 now. I hate to think how much it'll cost in about 10 years time. Thankfully I can generally expense most of my drinking but even so....

I went into my local for a quick pint on Saturday. They had Peroni on, first time they had it. That was about £4.80. I didn't bother. How can that be justified for a pint? No wonder pubs are going out of business.
