Can't see how Ndam gets anywhere near Cesar La Cruz in the quarters (should he get that far). Same goes for Ruenroeng against Oumiha, then Selimov.

Agreed. I thought he showed a lot of heart losing to Usyk in the WSB. He looked basic and was clearly out boxed but never stopped fighting and must have learned a lot from fights like that. That was yonks ago, too. I am hopeful that he will medal.

Buatsi looked good, but it was distracting listening to McIntosh waffling incessantly over the top, he's as relentless as erosion, and much of his commentary is as exciting as erosion too. He talked with barely a pause for breath for a good 10 minutes at one point. FFS, can't someone have a word and tell him to just shut his huge gob occasionally, it's frigging annoying.

I agree. Ronald is one of the worst commentators imaginable. Doesn't know that much about boxing. Talks way too much. Tries to wrap his enormous ox tongue around complex words he doesn't understand fully and certainly can't pronounce... Ron has to be the clearest example of why affirmative action doesn't work in practice. And that's forgetting his unwieldy 6ft 10 frame, which ensures that the poor cameraman has to film the interview from 10 meters away, otherwise he wouldn't be able to catch both participants. And that's besides the point that if he interviews anyone under the heavyweight division, a casual observer might think he was watching the midgolympics..

Still it could be worse.... He could co-commentate with the robotic-voiced, out of sync body language, super awkward Ed Robinson with colour commentary by Ortis Dealy....

Now THAT would be a feast for the ears..,.

Savon has already stopped Okolie but I think the Londoner has bags of potential. He could gain revenge and stop Savon. It's a big ask but I think he is a potential star in the making.

No head guards, and I'm pretty sure he didn't get sparked and was stopped on his feet wasn't he? He is too easy to hit, I think that is his biggest problem, calling him chinny is suggesting he goes down easily. He gets hit a lot in virtually every fight he has!

He'll make an entertaining pro. He certainly won't be gun shy or scared to let his hands go if he turns over!

Quite surprised at the commentary in that fight. For me, Barnes won that fight.... it was too close for comfort and he looked very fatigue at the end but I think it was poorly judged. I thought he won the opening 2 rounds and the third was very close.

Excellent little scrap though.

As is typical with the amateurs, I'm seeing people cry poor judging for some fights, while others stating their agreement with the judging in those fights.

The judging has been pretty good across the board in the bouts I have seen. Crying robbery is often biased fans not taking defeat for their fighter too well!

I’m staggered that this boxer (the Irish flagbearer, no less) didn’t know he could no longer compete at light flyweight. He’s already fought in two previous Olympics. How can you get to a competition of this size and be coming out with things like that?! Was he not able to simply move up one weight division?
