remember seeing mason crush jess harding and telling everyone that he would ko tyson (had just got into the sport) ! liked him but jeez had some stinkers !Bodyshot3 wrote:All the obvious ones like Froch, Calzaghe, Benn and Lennox....but also thought Chris Pyatt and Hoko were great to watch and Scott Harrison was fun whilst it lasted. Scott is the guy who could have possibly done great things. Also liked Gary Mason.
Good shout about Simmo. I said hello to him the other day. Works in Aldi over this way. Not sure if he's retired or not. Keep meaning to ask him.Boxerbeetle wrote:Calzaghe

Honourable mention to John Simpson who was always in a war.
I used to like Booth too. What a boxer. I saw him fight once and he can punch all of his 9 stone.handsofstone wrote:Benn

Also i used to love watching Jason Booth
Surely you don't mean of all time?Stuarty30 wrote:The UKs number 1 P4P fighter Carl Frampton
Not of all time as things stand no. He's my current favourite. I grew up in awe of Benn and Eubank but my favourite as a boy was Naz. After that Scott Harrison was pretty big up here and I was a fan.Taansend wrote:Surely you don't mean of all time?Stuarty30 wrote:The UKs number 1 P4P fighter Carl Frampton

Of all time I'd probably have to go with Calzaghe though.
I think it's different as you get a bit older. There's lots of coverage on nowadays and you can sometimes follow a fighters whole career more or less and to see them go from the early stages of their career to world champion is pretty special.
I watched that fight on Double Doves. Highly recommended.thelawisanass wrote:i just watched bruno vs mccall on BN a fight to remember and it's easy to forget how loved frank was and it was still a nervous watch 20 years on
Surely you're not going to say Froch was better? There's no doubt in my mind that Calzaghe would've comprehensively out boxed Froch over 12 rounds.Taansend wrote:Fair Dinkum.Stuarty30 wrote:Not of all time as things stand no. I love the bloke, proper warrior, but he's not even the best British Super Middle of his era.
And, in my humble opinion, Calzaghe ain't even the best Welsh fighter of all time
No, quite the opposite. I'm saying that Froch wasn't even the best Supermiddle of his era. That accolade belongs to Calzaghe.Stuarty30 wrote:Surely you're not going to say Froch was better? And Calzaghe isn't the best Welsh fighter of all time.
And again, this is nothing against Froch. He's f*cking brilliant
