Might be thinking of John Ruiz who retained his belt with a dq win over Kirk Johnson. Might of also had a draw in there.

I checked Ruiz........ for some reason he was the first person I thought of.

Though I wouldn't swear it was at heavyweight, I'm sure I won something about some guy who retained his world title twice or three time in a row, without any of them being wins. Anyone else know of who I am thinking of through my geriatric memory?

Talking of controversial endings, does anyone remember that strange bill when Honeyghan and Marlon Starling fought side by side in the States.
I kind of remember Starling getting knocked out after the bell against Thomas Molinares and then giving a weird interview where he didn't know he'd been down.

Yes. The bill's slogan of "Double Trouble" was quite fitting. Honeyghan nailed his Korean challenger below the belt in the fifth round. The Korean went down and was given five minutes to recover but his team retired him before the five minutes elapsed. Molinares-Starling was even more controversial in the eyes of many, but not me. The bell rang, both men threw right hands and Molinares' landed. They were both guilty. The 23-year-old Molinares never defended the title, relinquishing it due to weight problems. He had two more fights, which he lost in Colombia, and never fought again. Waste of talent.
