Very true. In the days of only one champion this would be a good springboard fight.

Maybe he's more concerned about damaging his career. If Hughi beat Whyte, especially while looking slow and lathergic, it'd really mess up his chances of getting big fights.

I doubt if a fight with Joshua would be boring though. Mainly because it would be one of those "will he survive" types of bouts.

The lad needs to fight a name at heavyweight, at least domestically, before he fights AJ.

Fury should be fighting the likes of Dave Allen and Sam Sexton, even David Price before he even publicly acknowledges a desire to go for such a shot. At this stage, I wouldnt even say the lad is a prospective British title holder let alone a world championship challenger.

Correct. The Fury clan are very very well off. They have no need to cash out. Hughie is meant to be absolutely sensational in sparring at times. Like untouchable. But he needs to be 100 percent.

I can't see it happening but I don't mind it if it does, to be honest. So long as Hughie has plenty of time to train and is fit, why not throw him in? Joshua's opponents have been crap thus far, so maybe Hughie's actually a step up?

I've given up on actual proper boxing in the UK. Ignorance is bliss. The casual is a happy looking creature. So yeah, brilliant! Pwopper domestic dust up! thought hughie was still on his cream, the way hugie fights at the moment is far to slow and casual aj would roll over him, but hughie can get so much better i think , would not take the fight if i was hughie yet

I remember watching Hughie's debut & being blown away by his poise. I couldn't believe how smooth & relaxed he looked. Especially for an 18 year old kid.

However, he doesn't seem any better or worse since then. Not a criticism as such. Still waiting for him to show us his full repertoire as he often seems to just be going through the motions.

I thought in the Kassi fight he did look somewhat improved skillwise, but his poor health made him look poor overall. It's probably hard for him to get enoguh training to improve with his health issues.

Personally I dont think Hughie has the tools to bother AJ. I just dont think Hughie has had much opposition in his career at the moment and to be honest I think AJ would knock him out quickly. In all honesty Hughies camp need to put him in with a hungry top 5 contender first to test the water, but he needs to face stiffer boxers before he is really entitled to a world title fight.

Joshua himself isn't even a top 5 contender.

And also, it would be a disgrace to boxing if this fight were to happen next. Eddie promised us one of three top 10 opponents next. If he actually gives us Tyson Fury's 21 year old cousin instead of a top contender like Pulev, he'll be permanently shit listed. I remember the amount of shit Wilder got from all of the boxing community for offering Hughie a shot. I know he only gave 3 weeks notice, but my point still stands.

I like Hughie but no way is on this level yet. Hughie is a fighter who has potential but is a slow developed and needs a good 2 or 3 more years fighting Euro and fringe world level opponents before stepping up.

At the moment I would barely put Hughie in the top 30. That's no disrespect to him because for me he's an excellent prospect but needs more development. He's not even in the top 5 in Britain tbh. Excluding AJ; Fury, Haye, Price, Whyte and possibly even Chisora are ahead of him.

I'm not surprised AJ is looking for joke opponents. He's an utter fraud but unfortunately the casuals lap it up.
