Saw an article so Googled it and apparently he's doing a 3 part show for discovery channel (or equivalent) in US, so presumably UK too where he trains for a muai thai fight.

Sure he said on twitter or instagram "3 days from fight night" so dunno if filming has been done and fight is imminent.

Hes travelling around the world and training at different locations to have a kick boxing fight a bit like fight quest. Kick boxing has a zillion dodgy "world" organisations so i'm sure he'll be ok.

Yeah, Joshua can be rather annoying.

Joshua's far too humble to be a bellend.

I’ve heard the same about Thai Boxing. I’m from a market town of around 100k people and I’ve met more thai boxing contenders than is proportionally likely. Often a “world title” will be contested in a WMC or similar. I was going to say “change hands”...but that would imply that one of the combatants at least held a share of it, which I also doubt.

My mate is WBC champion in Thai. It's a very brutal sport at pro level.

I think the proliferation of titles is much worse in 'kickboxing' than in genuine muay thai

Probably, another guy I have mutual friends with is genuinely ranked as the best non Thai ever in some quarters. Pictures of him all over Thailand. He does look ridiculously good in the gym, like.

Kickboxing and Muay Thai are very low level in the UK on the whole with dozens of organisations and world championships regularly being contested between men that live within an hour of each other.
'Pro' level just doesn't attract an audience outside of people related to or good friends with the competitors so there is just no money involved, which in turn limits the training time, quality of facilities etc etc.
There are some exceptions of course with the likes of Liam Harrison etc.

Muay Thai at a high level is ferocious. From what I've even locally though I'd back my 15 yr old niece against most of the local "fighters" ( these clubs tend to be populated by white collar types ) The head trainer at a club in Gillingham is effing useless. Just likes the gear he can wear and being associated with it. Lefty would slap the head off him

Our local Thai gym is the best in York, facilities are incredible. In fact you won't get many combat gyms anywhere with much better. Three top ten fighters and Liam Harrison doing PT's. It's pretty well sponsored (very well) and so are the fighters.

They've just had a Melvin Manheof seminar. Mental kicks he showed us all. They showed a fight of his that was crazy.

Thai boxing and kick boxing are two different things. Thai boxing is MUCH more brutal

I thought Michael Dicks was Britain’s best exponent. I heard talk a bit back there was gonna be some sort of fly on the wall doc where they live together and fight each other. Bit like that thing Sugar Ray Leonard did a while back. Not sure if it took off.

I don't follow it to be honest. I know a few so go to their fights and am friends with the gym owner but that's about it. From what the lads say, Liam is at least one of the best ever from here and the internet backs that up.

I’ve seen a bit of Harrison on channel 5...or 4, in the past. Yes, I’m aware he is world class in his field. But so I believe, is the Darlington man Dicks.

It hurts me watching his kicks. That's how he's won almost every fight, too, apparently. Leg kicks. Id be sick if I was that level and never got the rewards. I know he does ok, but if he was the equivalent in boxing he'd be a millionaire by now.

He was being interviewed once about the Mandela movie, and he said something along the lines of "one of my friends pointed out, that I was a little like Mandela, as I'd had to overcome lots of hardships."

I've hated him with a vengeance ever since - pompous pudendum.

Wonder if Idris used to plant bombs that killed women and kids and set fire to tyres placed around the necks of his enemies as well...
Terrible things happen in war and sadly people die. Thatcher oredered just as bad and she was the head of a supposed civilised country. Blood was certainly on her hands even if she was able to get others to carry out her murderous work.

Oppression causes spirited people to act in desperate ways. Perhaps you could provide us with an explanation as to why Mandela felt the need to take up arms...

Perfectly aware of why he took up arms. However what I don't like is the way he has been created into some version of a saint in the eye of the public and the fact he carried out what are terrorist acts is erased from history.

It's motivated by white guilt and it is ridiculous.

Hmmm. Well for one thing the nature of the south African apartheid regime being what it was, I don't have too many problems with terrorist acts against them. And whilst I agree with you there is something of a kneejerk 'sacred cow' attitude to Mandela in the West I think much of it is deserved; he had the chance, when apartheid was overturned, to be really vengeful and 'stick it to whitey', instead he preached reconciliation. That alone makes him fairly heroic in my book.

I think Mandela himself would have been the first to admit he was no saint, and as said here, it's what he did, or at rather didn't do when he had the whip hand in South Africa. His lack of bitterness in the fact of his lengthy incarceration was pretty remarkable.
