Yes... I agree that Canelo is turning into a shady disappointment.

Agreed. Canelo's chin is solid so KO is the only way Smith comes home with his belt. Sad but true.
IMO Jury is still out on just how good Canelo's chin. I would love to see Canelo-Lemuiex I think that'd be a great test and prep him for GGG

And did you hear Canelo-Smith has cancelled VADA testing.
How convenient no testing IMO Canelo could have been having trouble trying to make 154 so they scraped VADA to make it easier to cut weight.
I think it was extremely SHADY no testing, I would be shocked if they release fight night weight. No doubt Canelo is going to be 176+

Couldn't agree more with OP.
Add Canyellow's lack of activity during rounds, due to his heavy weight cutting, as another con.
Canyellow will coast during the rounds as much as it pleases him, knowing he gets the nod anyways at the end.
In case the opponent goes for the KO, he's heavily disadvantaged because of the disparity in size.
Corruption at it's finest.

If Canelo signs on to fight a MW and it's not GGG then he'll be demolished by fans but I do agree with you, that fight would tell us a lot about what we have here with Canelo.
Aside from my negative spin on Canelo here, i really do like the kid and I think that he's a way better fighter since his flight with Floyd. Khan, Cotto and Kirkland? That's a pretty tough run for any fighter. I just wish that he and Golden Boy would have handled the GGG fight a little better. The kid was soaring and they sunk him with going after Cotto and that low hanging fruit title. They should have known that a win over Cotto would bring GGG heat. They could have avoided this all together but they weren't smart.

Completely agree. It's going to be interesting to see what's next after the Smith fight.
IMO the perfect line up to prep Canelo for GGG would be: BJS in Dec, Lemiuex in May. An incredibly tough schedule but if they're to fight GGG in Sept Canelo has to be prepared.
I think GBP is more going towards Monroe in Dec, BJS in May. That's great I like both boxers but fighting two lighter hitting Outside fighters is just not going to be enough.
I fear Canelo-GGG isn't going to happen in 2017, hope I'm wrong.

Oscar already prepared a PR plan which is: Canelo is a JMW, and he will steadily grow into a MW. At the end of this year, he will fight at or close to 160, then at 160 on Cinco de Mayo and then vs Golovkin in September. I suspect that if Golovkin still looks strong they will make him an unacceptable offer, so that the fight won't happen, but that gives them almost a year of relatively fan abuse free time.

Did you hear what GGG came out and said about Canelo yesterday? GGG called him a loser-clown and basically just told Canelo so shut up and "get out of here". It's just getting worse for Canelo. GGG also said that Canelo would probably fight him if he looked bad today or in 5 years when he starts to slow down.
I think that at this point, Canelo must fight GGG. That's the only way he's going to get out of this. Otherwise, he's never going to be able to shake this one.

I gave three rounds to Canelo vs. Mayweather, and he barely won them. Same as Craig Metcalf the Canadian judge. Dave Moretti, who is normally a good judge when NOT working a Mayweather fight. (Very pro Floyd) had Floyd 116-112. CJ Ross' 114-114 draw ranks up there with Eugenia Williams favoring Holyfield in the first Lewis fight.
I think Canelo Alvarez is one of the most over-rated fighters in recent years. Oscar's doing the same thing Arum did for years. Protecting a Mexican cash-cow for his Mexican and Latino fan base.

I don't think that Canelo is going to age well as far as boxing is concerned. He doesn't seem like a guy who is going to fight at a high level in his mid 30s. Even right now, if he fights elite boxers in the middleweight division (Golovkin, Jermall Charlo, Jacobs) or super welterweight division (Lara, Jermell Charlo), he's going to need help from the judges in order to win.
