that's just rubbish, how does the heat keep your weight down, if that's true, why are there so many fat arabs?

It's air conditioned everywhere you go anyway, so what heat? It's not like he's living out in the desert.

The only way the heat keeps your weight down is if you lose your appetite or if you become dehydrated, in which case as soon as you rehydrate, the weight is back.
You do come out with some comments ? I have took boxers and Martial artists out there, you train in the heat and run on the beaches, not all the gyms have air conditioning, my fighters ate good food and plenty, not fast food, what you mean, as for your steriotyped comments about Arabs, you need to think again, not all Arabs are fat, nor rich and many Arabs are fighters, especially in the UAE, please don't make silly comments like that again.

Agreed. The heat does help burn fat a bit quicker but you definitely can't eat 'what you like'. Boxers should still stick to a strict diet 7 weeks before a title fight.
As I said, it's air conditioned pretty much everywhere you go, and the amount of extra energy expended to regulate your body temperature is minimal comparatively, the human body is very very efficient at maintaining homeostasis.

Actually extreme cold causes your body to work much harder, as the core body temperature is very high, and it's that your body is trying to maintain.
Get that of Google did you ?

Ok, the fat arabs was a bit much.

Training in the heat will obviously make you work harder, but you were implying that Eubank Jr would not put in weight, merely by dint of being in a hot country, despite the fact he's just on holiday. He's not in training, so therefore I see little impact from the heat,

And no, I didn't get the bit about homeostatis from google, I got it from books that I read many years ago when I studied biology, not every bit of knowledge in my head is from google.

Trust me Eubank jr will still be training, he hardly misses a day, he has a 12 ronder coming up with a very fit lad, so he will be training and knowing him, he will be running outside in the heat, he will lose weight quicker there then here, it's only the lifestyle that makes people fat out there and not all the rich ones are fat, Sheikh Ahmad Al Maytoum was a former Gold Medalist at the Olympics and others in the Royal Family are either professional Jockies or equestrian riders, even some do rally driving.

I'm not sure i understand how heat burns body fat quicker, can someone explain how that works rather than just losing weight through dehydration.

I'm sure that's a misconception shared by those fat guys in my gym that train in sweatsuits all year round. If i'm wrong i'd like to be corrected though.

From my little time on the Gold Coast in Australia the heat makes you very lethargic and means you are physically unable to train as hard as you would in a cooler climate.

It stands to reason to me that shivering to raise your body temperature burns more calories than sweating.

I'm with you on that one.

I work in Italy and for the last 3 months its been in the 30s. There's no way you could go for a decent run (apart from very early/late in the day) in this sort of heat/humidity without keeling over.

Why do top fighters go to hot climates to train, instead of going to Iceland then ?

He only went there for a couple of days.

Back in his home gym yesterday.

He's one of the best I've ever seen in the gym. Really hard worker and lives the life away from it.

To be fair, that's an important distinction to make, after saying; "You can eat what you like."

Because nobody likes eating cakes, biscuits or crisps.

Too much money from daddy- not enough hunger.
At the end of the day, it's worth getting too upset by the antics of the Eubanks any more.

After all the 'first dollar that drops' posturing that prevented Eubank Jr from taking what would've been the biggest fight of his career, it's hard to take anything he does seriously.

I meant more food mate, but realized afterwards, it could be taken in a different content.

That was my issue, it sounded like you were implying that simply because he was in a hot country, he could gorge himself silly and the weight would simply melt off.

Well I know that the body expends energy whenever it struggles to maintain homeostasis, to regulate the core body temperature, however, as the core temperature it needs to maintain, is around 37 Celsius - even the hottest countries on earth aren't going to be far enough above that core temperature to have a dramatic effect, the body is pretty good at dissipating heat through the blood vessels near the skin, and the body has a mechanism that is relatively efficient in sweat glands. Shivering is an emergency measure to attempt to generate heat and maintain that core temperature and as you say, by it's nature, would have to burn more energy that sweating.

Being very cold causes the body to burn way more energy, as the coldest temperatures on the planet are way below 37 Celsius, and so the body burns energy to maintain the core temperature.

It's amazing how pervasive the idea of losing weight by sweating a lot still persists, people think it's a remedy for being overweight rather than just a temporary solution because of dehydration.

I've always figured that training in the heat is more about dealing with adverse conditions, that's why old school boxing gyms didn't have air con or any such thing, they wanted fighters to be able to deal with the suffering and torment of training and sparring.
