It's not really fair to blame the kidsfor following their parents orders if that's the culture but absolutely awful to do that from the parents.

The media would make a story out of an empty crisp packet. I doubt there's much truth in this but if there is what does it say about gennady ? Does respect for ones parents stretch to watching them crush your dreams ? I doubt it.

Horse are you going through midlife crisis, did you not read the article, his two older brothers who used to help feed the family both died, because they were forced to go in the Army by the Soviet Union, so that left the two boxers, with only one place at the Olympics, because they were both at the same weight, the parents could of chosen the best one, but they picked the oldest one, because he was first in the world, what a great decision ? Bearing in mind that the father had worked in the mines to feed his children and the mother had reared them, it is only right that the children when they grow up , should look after their parents, so scum does not come into, just devotion to their parents. Quite clearly Horse you don't understand those qualities.

It is like the case of two of your sons drowning in the sea and you can only save one of them, which one do you save ? Nobody would like to have to make a decision like that, you would be the one sending one of your sons to his death. In this case you are killing the dream of one of your sons and sending him to the mines, Though Max did tell Gennady to go and make his dreams reality, because he was the oldest and their parents decision was made easier. Nobody is to blame here only destiny.

This is a bullshit story. Golovkins amateur career is very well documented. I saw him win the World Juniors in Budapest back in 2000 (at Light Welter) and have followed his career since. However, I can´t find one bout of his brother. Isn´t it strange that Gennadiy had plenty of international success and his brother had none but it was decided in the last minute who would represent Kazakhstan in the Olympics? Gennadiy was the World Champion with international wins over Damian Austin, Matt Korobov, Lucian Bute, Andy Lee, Yordanis Despaigne, Lukas Wilaschek, Marian Simion, etc and his brother was unproven at international level however Max could have gotten to the Olympics and just collect a medal? In an article from some years ago it seems Max Golovkin retired some years before the Olympics.

this was all after Max Golokin retired, nobody is saying that Golokin is not a brilliant fighter, just posting GGG's story.
