You do know what that was all about and the timing of it do you not ?

Part of it was moving bales of hay and being active and working hard in general. He was a busy kid who moved a lot of stuff and worked in factories during his amateur days. This can make your back and shoulders extremely powerful.

Quarry had to opt out in terms of testimony, as he never had the honor of being hit solid by Ernie, since he buzzed Shavers at the gitgo.

Still I'm with accepting the heresay of the fighters who claim it's shavers....Did you include Cobb in that testimony? Because he said the same thing.

FYI....It's written on a cave wall in Portugal, that Gronk...in the year 2000 BC was witnessed taking down a velociraptor with a single Right Cross. So it's possible Shavers comes in second.

Thanks Caractacus, I never realised that.
I have a signed copy of the book but it was a long time ago that I read it.

Although I don't doubt Shavers was a huge puncher it shouldn't be forgotten that a large amount of wins were over guys under 200lbs or just over.

He was like a third world nuke power. He had the bombs, but no sure fire delivery system. And he could be vulnerable himself. So those who used caution could be pretty successful as long as they didn't get too careless.

So where does Earnie Shaver's punching power fall between then
the average heavyweight (700 lbs)
and Ivan Drago ( 1800 lbs ) ?

Yeah I'd agree with that, he wasn't exactly fast either
