Re: Why are Fury tickets so much?

This fight will only happen in Germany IMO.
I don't see why the size of the crowd is relevant to how the event is regarded.Rob3_142 wrote:Irrespective of whether this is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, it'll take place in front of a nominal crowd and be regarded as one of the all time greatest sporting forces.CaptainSpacerod wrote:Because you'll be watching two genuinely world class heavyweights fighting for the lineal Heavyweight Championship of the World
Sporting events don't come much bigger than that.
My bad. Isn't Frank involved in the promotion and the event though? Doesn't he promote hughie now aswell?Manchester Hitman wrote:It's nothing to do with Frank he's not the promoter - this is all fat Mick and team Hennessy.lefty wrote:I'm guessing it's because it's not on PPV (correct me if im wrong) so frank is trying to make up the difference with these ridiculous ticket prices.
The first fight was a boring joke between two fcuken awkward lummoxes - IF it happens I will watch at home
The annoying thing is ticket prices are a tiny tiny tiny part of the income of the fight.clopixolacuphase wrote:but they didn't sell well before, and there was loads of people who got thier money back that probably won't be arsed to buy again. Fury fights are cursed for me: every time I've bought tickets for him there's been injuries or pull outs or cancellations or it's just been shite. I have given up on watching him live.bigjack wrote:Because they are demanding a very big payday each, that's why.
somebody is going to lose a lot of money.
Well, Hughie Fury - Andy Ruiz doesn't sound that bad to me actually.Zubrei wrote:I've kept my ticket and I'm still going.
Yes it's bloody expensive, yes the undercard will be rubbish, yes hotels prices are already through the roof, and the fight will probably be awful. But it's a chance to see the 2 best heavyweights in the world in the UK, and one of them is British. Some times you just have to say bugger it and spend the cash.
Plus I had a cracking time for Quigg vs Frampton earlier this year, and ended up in a club where Pat Sharp (from funhouse) was the DJ.
agreed. Still maintain Ruiz better than any AJ opponent thus far.asdfjkl wrote:Well, Hughie Fury - Andy Ruiz doesn't sound that bad to me actually.Zubrei wrote:I've kept my ticket and I'm still going.

You'd expect it to be somewhat more still, since this is actually for the No.1 in the division.Naandrew wrote:Stumbled across this on Twitter.
It's the comparison with the Crolla Linares tickets.

MJ, David Bowie, and Prince could be DJing and I still wouldn't fork out to see it live.Zubrei wrote:I've kept my ticket and I'm still going.

To be fair we did get Rod Stewart in the first fight in Germany - prices were cheap as welljamesmcdonnell wrote:MJ, David Bowie, and Prince could be DJing and I still wouldn't fork out to see it live.Zubrei wrote:I've kept my ticket and I'm still going.

I think in Germany boxing attracts a lot more sponsorship, and they get huge TV audiences, I believe that most of the fights are still free to air, Klit has a long running contract with ZDF.MacTavish wrote:To be fair we did get Rod Stewart in the first fight in Germany - prices were cheap as welljamesmcdonnell wrote:MJ, David Bowie, and Prince could be DJing and I still wouldn't fork out to see it live.Zubrei wrote:I've kept my ticket and I'm still going.

Expensive yes. But do you think they are out to make friends? Or make money?mimmy123 wrote:just looked to buy 2 from Eventim and at the back block 217 £106 each. Why are tickets for this fight so expensive? Ive never seen anything like this before, right at the rear where you will have to watch the big live screen to see anything and the promoter expects you to pay over £100.

Haye's comeback fight was a bit of a joke, especially considering the undercard and the level of opposition. However not even Haye was making that event to be on the level of a world title fight. It was free to air and tickets were a fraction of the cost of Fury/Klitchko.CaptainSpacerod wrote:I don't see why the size of the crowd is relevant to how the event is regarded.Rob3_142 wrote:Irrespective of whether this is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, it'll take place in front of a nominal crowd and be regarded as one of the all time greatest sporting forces.CaptainSpacerod wrote:Because you'll be watching two genuinely world class heavyweights fighting for the lineal Heavyweight Championship of the World

Haye's comeback fights for example have taken place in sold out venues in front of tens of thousands of rabid punters but would surely win any sporting farce of the year competititon
