Smith is underrated and I think Canelo and his team are severely underestimating him. Smith's a good boxer, he doesn't excel at anything but he's solid across the board, can bang well, switches his attacks and has good timing.

He needs a KO to win because the biased judges won't give him the decision even if he beats Canelo to a pulp. But Smith has more power than his KO record suggests. Canelo has a good jaw but I wouldn't be TOO shocked if Smith manages to KO him with a body shot.

I agree Smith has power and he hits at weird angles he isn't your typical boxer that said I'd say he is a solid 6/10 in every department with his chin being his biggest asset

Canelo will need to throw bombs to dispatch this kid
I agree he's not spectacular across the board but 6/10 everywhere is a tad harsh. I'd give his power an 8 and his stamina, aggression and workrate a solid 7 or 8 too.

Sometimes those are just as important as technical boxing skills imo.

Personally I feel it`s a 70/30 fight in Canelo`s favour,he`s a good fighter but not great .
Being shut-out by Floyd`s no disgrace but shows his limitations ,and Matty Hatton surviving 12 rounds is food for thought too.
It`s still a huge step up in levels for Liam and I see him getting pulled out late after giving a good account of himself.

No. Smith hasn't boxed anyone in the top 80 and Gallagher's fighters don't seem to move their heads.

No, Canelo win, either wide or stoppage.

Canelo to win by points is 3/1, thats unreal considering Smith is fairly durable

Having Gallagher in his corner isn't going to do Smith any favours. I'd still say Smith has a better chance than Brook had, simply because Canelo has a lot more flaws than Golovkin. But he's obviously a huge underdog, even without considering the usual Canelo bias which he'd face from the judges if it went to points.

If making 154 takes too much out of Canelo and Liam is durable at world level then I believe he has every chance if he still in there at round seven.

Don't think he will do it but would obviously would love to be proved wrong, I see him giving it a good go though.

Any idea how ticket sales have gone for it?

I am surprise ppl take this fight seriously. It will be very one sided affair. I expect Canelo to end it in early to mid rounds depending on Smiths chin and heart.

And yes, I have seen Liam Smith fight. He is domestic level.

makes the victory sweeter mate I really hope Liam can win but he is starting with a handicap he is fighting 3 judges, 1 referee and the small affair of fighting Canelo haha

can see them both boxing behind a high, tight guard with canelo taking it on points due to being busier, hopefully Gallagher wont have him coasting the first half like he has done with others in his stable

tbh regardless if this bout goes on points theres only one winner can't see the 3 judges scoring 7 out of the 12 rounds to Smith

I see this going much the same way as John Murray v Brandon Rios with Canelo's better quality forcing a stoppage mid to late.

Although Rios at least keeps a good pace, unlike Mr. only fights in spots. I think Smith has a much better chance of going the distance.

Sorry for been harsh mate. What do I know anyway. Smith will beat Canelo and then will fight Floyd apparently. At least according to Joe Gallagher.

Certainly would!!! Love it when the odds are against someone and they do it. It's just a massive ask!

I'm gonna go for Canelo between 10 and 12 or a points win. I feel like having a wager again but I think I'm going to give it a miss this time.

Think Alvarez comes in over the weight like Rios did?

I've thought about it...

Maybe just put some money on Canelo winning in general. That's all but a certainty.

Normally the odds aren't really bothering with unless you're betting a huge sum though, that's the problem. That's why I tend to do round betting for those better odds. Obviously however, it's trickier to do.

Smart money would be on Canelo but Smith has a chance here. Even if he makes it a good contest he comes away with his reputation at an all time high. He'll probably learn more in this fight than he has in his last ten!
