SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He wants Saunders more than canelo. Canelo being the lineal champion shows how useless that claim is in this era.
Besides, after beating Saunders and becoming undisputed, Golovkin will start a new untainted lineage.

He's most definitely the boss at Middleweight no doubt. Virtually nobody disputes he's the man to beat at Middleweight to be the best.

Why do they (his team) still want the fight then even though Canelo no longer has the belt? Why's there this gentleman's agreement for a bout in September 2017?
Because it's a big fight. If he's chasing it so hard why didn't he utter a word about him?
Because there's already an agreement in place (in theory atleast) for thr fight to happen next September. He doesn't need to call him out anymore. Saying that though- there's still plenty of articles on BS with Golovkin and his team mentioning Canelo.

No he's not. GGG got paid a combined total of $6m for his last two bouts. Canelo may have doubled or trebled that sum for his bout against Khan alone, when his cut of the PPV revenue is taken into consideration with his $3.5m guaranteed purse.
Yeah I can't see it myself. Canelo has got 40k plus people coming to watch him fight Liam fornicating Smith who outside of hardcore boxing fans, nobody in the states has ever heard of.

It's gotta be between him or Joshua for thr biggest draw in boxing now. I don't think Pacquaio is quite the draw he used to be although still does good numbers.

Lol, that's like the 5th agreement. Of course his team wants the giant check and any blogger is going to ask him about canelo for hits. When asked about him after the fight he went straight to Saunders. That's hardly chasing.

Okay, if Golovkin and his team were offered either Saunders or Canelo for his next fight, which one do you think they'd choose being honest?

He'd take Canelo because there's at least 5 Million more dollars in that fight, maybe 10

Ggg would take Saunders, no doubt in my mind. His team would take Opie. Not that the question has anything to do with golovkin "chasing canelo". That simply isn't true. Nobody in ggg's team thinks canelo is going to fight him next year. He didn't mention him because he's over it.

I think Loeffler is banking on it. I don't believe Golovkin or Sanchez believe it's gonna happen but I think Tom naively might.

Nope, obviously they'll do these annual agreements because it's the biggest money fight but nobody on that side thinks it's going to happen.

If he stays at his natural weight and waits for Canelo and the chump change they'll offer him[GGG] :witzend: then they'll play game's the fight will be on again off again until GGG agrees to take a 5% split of the purse GGG aint getting any younger either if I was them I would tell Canelo to go f.ck himself I would offer TBE Mayweather or Pacman the fight because they are BIGGER fight's in my view its very unlikely Mayweather OR Pacman would take the fight and there would be no-way i'd make GGG fight anyone at catch-weight he's The Middleweight Champion and that's what weight he should fight at while still defending that Title other then the three i'v mentioned who at Middleweight is worthy of the fight the only two would be Jacobs/Saunders back at Jr Middle he could get Andrade or one of the Charlo brother's or Lara :maybe: but those guy's just don't have that aura about them like those three [May/Pac/Canelo] i'v mentioned.............................. At Super Middle he could fight the 25 year old Mexican Gilberto Ramirez who's 34-0 but no-one really knows him outside his house  or James De Gale if your not from the UK you could fall over him and not know it  he would make some decent money and be a unified World Champion at Super Middle at the very least above that he would be meeting his Mt Everest's in some BIG name fighter's like Ward/Kovalev/Stevenson/Beterbiev and he could cash in on Julio Chavez Jr name to start of the final chapter of his career at Light Heavyweight fight 2/3 of those light heavyweight's and win lose or draw his bank balance will be VERY HEALTHY his grand kid's will be set for life when they come along and his LEGACY will be CEMENTED even if he retire's with a loss or two when all said and done.

It's a really hard decision for him to make but I don't see who else he would fight at MW that would really enhance his legacy. I just don't think he will get Canelo anytime soon and I don't think Lara is interested in moving up to MW to fight him. If he goes up to SMW then he's too late for Ward, who has gone on to LHW. Question is, would Ward drop back to SMW if Golovkin gave him a great offer?

It's highly unlikely that we'll ever see GGG leave the MW division behind. He's got an old school frame of mind, which i love, where boxers wanted to own and defend the championship of the world for as long as he can and break all of the records that he can along the way. In a day an age where boxers are vacating belts left and right to avoid competition, it's refreshing to see a boxer more motivated by winning and defending belts than chasing the money. In all fairness, you could say the same about Serge Kovalev. We are lucky to have both reigning in the same time period.

Perhaps GGG will take a catchweight fight at some point above or below 160 but I don't see him venturing far from his home of 160. He weighed in at 158 and some change last week. When you see a boxer make weight by more than a pound, they most likely didn't have a problem making the weight. They have things measured down to the ounce so why would he move from his natural spot on the scale?

GGG has to be considered a prize fighter now, that should mean anyone that sells tickets from 154 to 168.

I don't want to see GGG fighting any lower than middleweight, as I think at 34+ it would negatively affect his performance. He should definitely go up to 168lb for big fights - Ramirez or Degale-Jack winner, but he shouldn't make a permanent move to the division just yet when there's guys like Saunders, Jacobs, Eubank Jr and Canelo to take care of. Eventually, I'd like to see him take on the Kovalev-Ward winner at 175lb.
