Who would he have beaten for the title though?mickey1975 wrote:9.9 and he's in the mix.jimcook wrote:gavin couldve and shouldve been the world champ at ten stone by now. couldve been clowning the likes of broner and garcia in las vegas for mega bucks.....if only
Re: Sam Eggington vs. Frankie Gavin - October 22nd 2016
cant remember which lesser fighters have held titles at 140....malignaggi maybe, provodnikov? had gavin put in similar dedication and professionalism as the likes of burns or brook, he couldve been up there. unfortunately, hard work and focus are much more important than mere talent.
Re: Sam Eggington vs. Frankie Gavin - October 22nd 2016
do you really think he couldve made lightweight?mickey1975 wrote:9.9 and he's in the mix.jimcook wrote:gavin couldve and shouldve been the world champ at ten stone by now. couldve been clowning the likes of broner and garcia in las vegas for mega bucks.....if only

If he had the discipline of countless other fighters, yes.jimcook wrote:do you really think he couldve made lightweight?mickey1975 wrote:9.9 and he's in the mix.jimcook wrote:gavin couldve and shouldve been the world champ at ten stone by now. couldve been clowning the likes of broner and garcia in las vegas for mega bucks.....if only

Gavin wins on points

No chance of that when he is walking round at 12 stone 4.mickey1975 wrote:If he had the discipline of countless other fighters, yes.jimcook wrote:do you really think he couldve made lightweight?mickey1975 wrote: 9.9 and he's in the mix.

If a lightweight walks around at 12 stone 4, which I don't believe they are either a) carrying lots of fat. b)see merely weight drained or c) fornicating idiots lol.mickey1975 wrote:So will a lot of lightweights.Fitzy901 wrote:No chance of that when he is walking round at 12 stone 4.mickey1975 wrote: If he had the discipline of countless other fighters, yes.

And loads do fall into those categories. Maybe he shouldn't be walking around at 12.4? My mate, who boxed Gavin, hasn't fought for a year yet still won't weigh over 11st. And he's not anywhere near that level.

TBH I'm not exactly excited for this fight but I think it'll be competitive, I think Gavin is clearly the better boxer but Eggington will make it rough for him at times especially in the 2nd half of the fight when he gets strongeras Frankie tires,Sam is a tough nights work for anyone but Skeete dealt with him fairly comfortably and Gavin beat Bradley deservedly on my card, the whole local rivalry might make this fight closer than it would normally be if they were from different cities,Gavin's class will tell over Eggington's pressure IMO and he wins on the judges cards

I think 11 3 is the maximum a lightweight should walk around at mate.

I agree, my point is Gavin shouldn't be 12.4.Fitzy901 wrote:mickey1975 wrote:And loads do fall into those categories. Maybe he shouldn't be walking around at 12.4? My mate, who boxed Gavin, hasn't fought for a year yet still won't weigh over 11st. And he's not anywhere near that level.

But if that's his natural weight, then what can he do?mickey1975 wrote:I agree, my point is Gavin shouldn't be 12.4.Fitzy901 wrote:mickey1975 wrote:And loads do fall into those categories. I agree. Gavin looks about 40 in the video above.Fitzy901 wrote:Don't know why but I'm starting to think Eggington will win, Frankie Gavin looks like he has aged badly in the face and I can Eggington walking through his shots.

I reckon Eggington is going to stop him late. I really rated Gavin when he first turned over (Sillakh's another one I had high hopes for that never achieved much) but his power isn't good enough for the top level and I also don't believe he's a particularly confident fella. It doesn't really seem like he believes in his own ability deep down.

I've seen Gavin at the gym and no way is his 'natural' weight 12st, he isn't that tall and pretty slim with it

Thanks for posting the videos. What a shambles the Gavin weight was. He does not look like a top class fighter at all.
Everyone looked completely shocked by how far off he was

Eggington is going to walk him down and beat him up. He looks a weight above and he is nearly 3lbs lighter.

One of the best amateurs I've ever seen.
The only chance I see him having of fulfilling his potential is if he finds a mad doctor who drives a delorean.
