I saw that mate. Absolutely gutted for the guys family and friends. RIP Iron Mike.lefty wrote:RIP. Really sad news. The thing that is a little alarming is that in his fiancée's Facebook post- she said in the weeks leading up to the fight he had been suffering from bad migraines. I hope there wasn't some thing already going on there that wasn't picked up leading into the bout.
Nice touch, I wholeheartedly agree with you.Coco wrote:Terrible news, this can be the most brutal of sports. Sometimes posters need to remember this when they are quick to mock and disrespect fighters.
X2 heartbreaking news to hear this morning all boxers should be commended for getting into ring, thoughts are with his family RIP Mikemagwitch wrote:Nice touch, I wholeheartedly agree with you.Coco wrote:Terrible news, this can be the most brutal of sports. RIP to this young man, Mike.
Definately sounds like something was not right in the run up to the bout, you would have to think something was going on, why else woukd his girlfriend make mention of it, definately sounds like something was overlooked. Hopefully they get to the bottom of it, and if connected, lessons can be learned to further improve the safety and wellbeing of fighters.lefty wrote:RIP. Really sad news. Nice one Ricky. I'm gonna stick in a few quid. Maybe this should have a thread of its own so people know cwhere to donatecraigjenkins05 wrote:Ricky Hatton also started a just giving page put the first £5,000 in himself here's the link

Its a bit like F1 motor racing used to be before they made it a lot safer. People watched it to see the crashes rather than to see who the winner was. Jackie Stewart wanted to see the sport made safer, while Stirling Moss thought that would make it less compelling. I have always watched it to see the winner as with boxing, you have to be sick to want to see young men killed or maimed. A doctor at ringside and an ambulance standing by. The corner and the ref deciding when a fight should be stopped usually work well enough to protect a fighter.Sklar wrote:Only just caught up on this. If the risk wasn't there the sport wouldn't be as compelling as it is. Does make you question your morality though.
The 20k target has been reached already, although hopefully donations will continue to come. Great workStevieb8006 wrote:Nice one Ricky. I'm gonna stick in a few quid.
