Looks like the fight will be in the US - Ruiz's backyard. I doubt he will be a pushover, He only needs to hit Parker clean once to end it.
Ruiz wasn't able to stop Liakhovich who is shot to pieces. I expect he's gonna have his hands plenty full with Parker, and I expect Parker to stop him or win a lopsided decision.

Sounds like the fight is going to happen. But the venue and date are still rubbery.

Update according to Dean Lonergan :

“Joseph knows 100 percent he is fighting Andy Ruiz, he knows 100 per cent he’s going to be fighting inside the next three to four months and, most importantly he knows he’s getting inside a 21 foot x 21 foot boxing ring. It’s coming down to where this fight is going to take place".

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum plans to hold a press conference this Saturday November 5 in Las Vegas to formally announce the Parker vs. Ruiz fight for the vacant WBO belt on December 10 in New Zealand.

Now that's a very good question and I'm surprised the NZ Herald haven't speculated more about the answer :

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/ar ... d=11741230

Bob Arum told said this morning: "They've kept assuring me that they would somehow raise the money to do the fight through sponsorship or whatever.

"They informed me this morning that that had been done so we're going to announce on Saturday in the US that the fight will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, on December 10".

Rate payers by the sound of it :

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/ar ... d=11741606

Auckland ratepayers could throw hundreds of thousands of dollars towards Joseph Parker's heavyweight title fight, which will take place in the city on December 10.

The boss of the council's events arm, Brett O'Riley, yesterday confirmed Ateed "continues to be a part of discussions around this opportunity".

In a statement he said Ateed was "not providing financial sponsorship directly to the fight" but continued to "look for opportunities to market and leverage Auckland on an international stage through world-class events like this".

He did not say what form any financial assistance would take or whether it was in the order of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"We will look at opportunities to market Auckland to an international audience, but what form this takes won't be determined until the fight is confirmed to take place in Auckland."

When Parker's title fight against Mexican Andy Ruiz was first mooted for Auckland, O'Riley said Ateed "definitely intend to be a major partner" and contribute "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in cash and services.

This thing is becoming a public spat about who is and isn't paying for it :

Auckland Council's event promotion arm has rejected claims it will pump ratepayer money into Kiwi boxer Joseph Parker's WBO heavyweight title tilt next month.

Despite the scale of the event, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development chief executive Brett O'Riley said the council would NOT sponsor the fight.

http://www.newshub.co.nz/politics/josep ... 2016110412?

So you have to ask yourself where is all this money coming from? It will take a hell of a lot of chook raffles between now and December 10th.

Just read on fightnews that Duco lost one of there major sponsors. I think the fight will be heading to the USA, Expecting Ruiz at home to really give it to Parker over 12rds.

Yeah, not good news.

Duco Events co-owner Dean Lonergan, said the location is still up in the air and wouldn't reveal the details.

"Up till 5pm Thursday this fight was 100 percent guaranteed coming to Auckland due to the fact we had a number of sponsors come on board with one of the major ones being Ateed," Lonergan said.

"We've been talking with them for a number of weeks putting together a package that to them made sense, based around visitation, tourism messages and feel good factors of having the fight in Auckland. Unfortunately at 5pm on Thursday, Ateed rang us to say that they were no longer going to participate. So we are back to where we were about a week ago."

Only 2 weeks ago the head of Auckland Council's events and economic development Brett O'Riley indicated they would be willing to commit "hundreds of thousands of dollars" to help make the fight happen. Then boom, a couple of days ago O'Riley said they will not be providing financial support.

The fly in the ointment appears to be the newly Auckland Mayor, Phil Goff. He isn't saying a word at the moment and indications are that will continue.

Meanwhile, Dean Lonergan and Duco have apparently gone quiet too.

Two possible outcomes I'd suggest :

1/ It has all turned to crap as far as government support goes.

2/ The government are looking for maximum mileage out of providing support and want it trumpeted in grandest fashion at the most opportune time.

Only time will tell.

Duco appear to be in one hell of a financial bind here and there is all manner of speculation being thrown around. Rumours the PPV price will be increased significantly to meet the cash shortfall being just one of them.

Its almost like Duco don't think Parker can win in the USA and that's why they are trying to bring it to NZ.

Most fighter's promoters prefer them to fight at home. Particularly for significant fights like this one where a world belt is on the line.

There is an advantage top be had by fighting at home and I'm sure Duco and Parker would prefer to have it rather than give it away.

Duco Events will confirm the host city and venue at a press conference on Tuesday in Auckland.

Jeff Horn vs Ali Funeka will be on the undercard.

Good stuff hope Joseph and Jeff can impress once again. A lot of people on another forum don't rate Ruiz hopefully Joseph can pick up the strap and be in the mix for some big fights.

Almost a disappointment for Jeff Horn that the fight isn't going to be held in the US. Could have provided him with some good exposure having never fought there before.

Izu Ugonoh has been added to the undercard.

Apparently the cost to put this show on will be at least $4million.

By comparison the Carlos Takam card cost $2.2m to stage.

Joseph Parker's promoters Duco are touting huge sales ahead of next month's heavyweight world title fight against Andy Ruiz Jr - saying ringside tables costing as much as $20,000 have sold out.

Duco chief executive Martin Snedden says sales have been "going gangbusters" and the organisation is heading towards breaking even quicker than expected, with costs already at $4.2m.

Snedden says he has had to convince Vector Arena bosses to re-jig the floor plan for the December 10 fight, so that more tables could be added to meet a larger-than-expected demand.

"It's been a good couple of days with ticket sales, we're getting towards parity quicker than anticipated," Snedden said.

"Every single ringside table was part of sponsorship deals or WBO, row two was $20,000, to row six or seven at $8000-$10,000.

"People didn't resist that.

"On Monday, there'll be some more there, but they won't last beyond lunch time."

I expect Sky and an American broadcaster will add to the pile of money. Would be perfect to have the Parker fight on before the Joshua card, either on Sky Sports or even add to the PPV list (hopefully not though).

With most of the money coming from pay TV it is just a matter of getting access to a satellite. You can put a fight on anywhere.

No American networks are interested in Ruiz.
His recent fights have been on off air undercards or UniMas which does not do overseas broadcasts.
