Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Only 9 members in and already 19 separate boxers have been awarded points.
I suspected that the Light Heavies was a divisive weight class, but apparently even more so than I initially thought:

My 10:
Time for me to throw my hat into the ring (if you'll pardon the pun)
1 Archie Moore (by virtue of him being the Light Heavyweight Champ for nearly a decade)
2 Ezzard Charles
3 Gene Tunney
4 Roy Jones Jr
5 Michael Spinks
6 Bob Fitzsimmons
7 Bob Foster
8 Georges Carpentier
9 Mike McTigue
10 George Gardiner
(I might be a bit biased with the last two, I freely admit)

Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Good job.
This category is full of world-class boxer and really not easy to choose the 10.We have a quality boxer(Tunney,Charles) with great victories but without the title, which is a very important part in this sport. Place them among the best but I can not ignore that fact.
My view is that it is definitely the place for them in this list but not in the very top of that fact. I respect everyone's opinion but I am the opinion expressed . I love them both and their boxing was great, the possibilities are top category but were not champions of what is unfortunately a fact.
Neither are they to blame because we know what it was but the title is very important in these lists.

They were not champions simply due to corruption in the sport

Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Seriously? not even worth getting involved in if no one has heard of Galindez, Conteh or Johnson.
All totally missing from lists. All best of best. Might want to revamp some lists.

It's all clear to me whether or can not against that fact. Ezzard would certainly become a champion that he got the opportunity at that time.

Just post up your list mate and see what happens. I'd have those fighters you mentioned at 14-25 all time. Conteh was inconsistent although on form he was fantastic.

Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
I do think we have to keep Langford in mind when ranking light heavyweights. Some people have, but he doesn't seem to be on some people's radar.
While within the light heavyweight limit, he had wins over Philadelphia O'Brien (KO5), heavyweights Sam McVey (TKO11), and Joe Jeannette (Decision), and a first round KO of Fireman Flynn. He also had a draw with McVey.
I don't think he had an official loss when he was a light heavy. (He did have a newspaper decision loss to Flynn.)

Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
You'll get the occasional guy who makes a really strange comment like, I don't rank Langford or Greb at Light Heavyweight.

Ezzard Charles

Conteh Johnson (I'm assuming Marvin here) and Galindez?
VERY important LHW names....IF you are listing from 10 to 20.

Moore over Charles is laughable. Not subjective, not debatable, just a joke.
Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Real is not a joke, because the entire decade of the champion.
Yet this is an important part of.

Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
It couldn't be less important to me. Where was Tommy burns on your heavyweight list?
Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Is not top 30
but it has nothing to do with the fact that Moore was long a champion Ezzard unfortunately not. One of them from teasing fighters but need not exaggerate.
Edit
I respect your position but there are plenty of lists where Moore No1Lhw
Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Charles beat Moore all 3 times they fought. Once by KO. That's why it's not debatable who was better.Keko wrote:![]()

Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Well, Charles was greater than Moore wherever you rank them. Honestly, the way you justify it is even more laughable than the ranking itself. Straight up buffoonery.
