good move by luis ortiz sighning with eddie hearns or bad move should have stayed with goldenboy promotions ? your opinions please ?

Ortiz don't have the years to walk the "British road". To AJ is too valuable to risk against Ortiz. And I really don't know what MR can do better than GB in global....
We'll see if it was wise from Ortiz side to waste a year for this.

Hearn has probably signed Ortiz purely with the intention with matching him against Joshua down the line. He'lk build up his profile on sky sports and with the British market and then probably match them the latter part of next year.

Hearn can get anyone at anytime to fight AJ, since bout with AJ is always a payday! No real need to waste money on unknown aging boxer with PED history for this.

Unfortunately for Ortiz he is mostly unknown and too old . But that being said George Foreman won the title when he was 50?

My first impression is that this is a GREAT move.

But then I start asking loads of questions. Are we going to find out what he's like to work with (as in was the breakdown with Golden Boy productions)? Is Hearn going to find the appropriate opposition for him?

I'm thinking he gets away with one mid level fighter in Nov (cause of short notice) and then he needs to think about hitting top 10 fighters straight away. Will he stick him in with Joshua? I personally don't see it. Hearn might wait until he's over the hill, which is disappointing, but I still feel Joshua needs a few fights before he's ready fort he echelon.

I don't understand the "hearn has signed Ortiz to protect Joshua" comments. The reason being that he could have done that anyway. Nobody outside of hardcore boxing fans even know who Ortiz is!

Most of the people who go to watch Joshua fight are casuals and wernt gonna be clamouring for Joshua to fight a guy they've never heard of.

It makes no logical sense for Hearn to sign him if he's not gonna inevitably match Joshua with Ortiz down the line. By signing Ortiz he draws more attention to Ortiz's talents and raises his profile with the the UK fanbase which in turn will lead to more people wanting to see Joshua matched with Ortiz. If Hearn didn't want to match Joshua with Ortiz it would have made more sense for him to not sign Ortiz and leave him out in the wilderness! It's not exactly like Ortiz had a great deal of options before Matchroom came along and signed him.

I genuinely believe he does intend on matching the two. Not right away but in a year/year and a half time. By that stage Ortiz will probably have deteriorated or atleast Hearn will hope he has AND Ortiz wont be quite so high risk/low reward as he is now as he'll likely have beaten some good names on Sky which will in turn raise interest in him and lead to people (the casuals aswell as the hardcore) wanting to see the two matched up.

On top of that- if Ortiz does beat Joshua he owns the promotional rights to Ortiz anyway and can cash in whatever the outcome! It's a clever move in truth.

I'm inclined to agree with this post. Ortiz has financial potential considering he's managed/promoted appropriately.

You have to give Eddie credit for this, really. You can't ignore Ortiz forever and not only is he a massive lump with fight ending power he is also up there with Wladamir and Fury as the main men in the division. There's a lot of money to be made with him: the casuals will love him and, cynically, if he's on PPV's (and we all know Eddie loves a PPV) then not only will decent heavies want to fight him all of a sudden but Eddie can match him HARD against the guys who he wants to keep away from Joshua, all the while building towards the inevitable huge unification (I'm sure Fast Car will get Ortiz one of Fury's belts).
