Lol iv known max years he rang me this morning and was mortified and just wanted to say it was a daft heat of the moment thing,we had a laugh about it and it was more annoyance than anything i couldnt really beleive it just seemed a bit out of character,
Wasnt realy jumping round was just grabbing my fighter as we were all over the moon and like i say frankie was right in front of us you could see it was just tired he wasnt out or even badly hurt just spent.
Tbf a lot of people have jumped on it on social media etc and iv had to say we know each other it was a shove no big deal people seem to love the drama and personally i think we should be talking about The fight Frankie and sam served up to us and the other lads on the card such as Cunningham Broadhurst,Barret,Davis and keates who took good fights won them and managed to hopefully push there careers forward.
Sam has been given a lot of stick from frankie fans on twitter facebook etc the last few weeks and not once has he chosen to gloat or score points he just praised frankie and said how happy he is with the win.Tbh a lot of people messaged me and i thought when we win ill reply to them but looking at sams example i just thought to myself you know what they are fans and can say what they want what kind of clown would i look trying to score points on a public forum or facebook or twitter.
Enjoy the fight and the win the honest fans will enjoy it with you ,the donuts will be annoyed the fact yr enjoying your win works both ways lol

That is EXACTLY how it did look.
Not quite but close i was a little shocked and then annoyed that someone i know well give me a shove from behind lol

Well done Jon and team and Frankie was down with body shots and he was tired. A local derby win against the odds is gunna get you celebrating. If Frankie was unconscious then thats a different story. Jons a true boxing man who works hard.Max was gutted and i would have been but lets not focus on that but on what a good fight it was well done to both teams

After the way Gavin has acted in the build up who can blame Jon and team for acting the way they did in celebrating Sam's brilliant and deserved victory? One guy made weight. The other couldn't be arsed. One is a good kid who works as hard as he can everyday to try and be the best he can be. The other is a self entitled guy who thinks he's above guys like Sam and only has to turn up to win. And then demands a rematch based on ridiculous judging. Well done Jon and team. But most of all well done to Sam. He deserves this.

Your wrong mate. Boxingcutsman had a lad who knocked out my cousin in a British title eliminator and he and his fighter tried to calm their fans down and didn't celebrate till they knew he was ok.

Bit of a difference between getting knocked out and being tired and put down with body shots though.
I like Frankie, we are friendly, but you could tell he wasn’t in any real trouble at the end and Jon was a matter of a couple of feet from him and I am sure he could tell that as well. Also, he didn’t “jump over him”.
Much ado about nothing, maybe it looked worse from Max’s angle and in the heat of the moment he reacted badly. He came off badly for doing it but its not a big deal really and I’m sure both parties with forget about it.

Well...
On the night I was about 5 rows from the ring and from there I was concerned that Gavin was hurt, however watching the Sky footage it's clear that there was no lack of consciousness or issues that would indicate any serious and immediate injury. The Sky cameras were further away than Jon at the time of the stoppage as he crumpled in Sams corner.

I don't know why people are interested in a little slap on the back of the head, done in the heat of the moment, when before we had witnessed a great fight. Sam and Frankie gave everything, everything, but as usual youth told in the end. I know Max and he does not seem the type to get involved, like that , I also know Jon very well and he would not celebrate, if someone was hurt badly. Frankie fought at a faster pace then he had ever done before, he was forced to by Sam, who was relentless, the other factor was Frankie's weight making, it must have took a lot out of him and pure boxers like him are not conditioned enough for hard fights like that, they don't get hit as much, were as Sam is used to it and more conditioned for punishment. Frankie showed some superb moves and he hit Sam with some great combinations, catching him flush, even Frankie's vicious body shots, could not dent Sam's march forward, on the other hand Sam's superior power told, it was like the first Margarito/ Cotto fight. Credit to Sam and Frankie both showed real fight, but on the night Sam was too strong, to big and too powerful, Frankie has still got a lot left and at times he showed why he was so highly rated, but he will have to go down to Super Lightweight, can he do it, that is the question ? One thing for sure is that Sam as a bright future.

mate, i haven't seen the whole fight but i have caught some highlights and seen rd 6, you mention Gavin's vicious bodyshots but it looked to me as though he wasn't really sitting down properly on his bodyshots? i do know Curtis Woodhouse said after their fight that the ide3a Gavin can't punch at all is wrong, as he was p1ss1ng blood for a week afterwards, or words to that effect. is it just that i have seen the later rounds when his energy was faded?

Thanks for so many of you who know me well enough to know what im about and how i carry myself, It was a crazy moment and every one went nuts because of how good the fight was.Body active and Naji are exactly right echoing what i said earlier about ignoring handbags between two people who know each other and concetrating on two warriors giving there all and putting birmingham back on the map

I hadn't noticed the SLAP whilst watching the fight live Jon but just watched it back hahaha. I know you well and no way would you have celebrated if Gavin was hurt; like you said a heat of the moment thing from both sides and one that made me LOL when watching it back.

Frankie does punch hard to the body, some of his body shots against Sam were great shots, but Sam was so tough and would not be denied.

Yeah I saw a couple of left uppercuts to the body that looked like quite heavy shots but as Eggington walked through them I guess thats why I start to wonder how much he was leveraging them. He certainly had his feet set wide to punch it looked like

I've always been of the belief (could be wrong) that you don't really need to be a particularly hard puncher when it comes to hurting people to the body. Hurting somebody to the head is by and large harder imo.

Also true, but a lot of the time when you see someone walking through bodyshots like Eggington was, its because they are slaps or armpunches or whatever.

On a more serious note ( away from slap gate) I would be keen to know if when taking so many shots as eggington was after the 3 rnd was this just poor defence or was it the plan to draw the fight out of Gavin ?
Encourage gavin by allowing success to trade more and allow him to work himself tired and thusly stop the situation that was so predominate in the first two rounds ( the back foot shoulder defensive stance of Gavin that Sam simply could not effectively penetrate).
I go like eggington but am keen to see him use some more obvious head movement and also cut out the tendency to over reach beyond his front foot and become unbalanced. Making some more room to work in the pocket at times would be nice so I guess some work to be done on control of distance and slip to counter..
Is this fair? I welcome comments..

So because Jon can't fight (in your opinion) you think he shouldn't train fighters? Not sure how that works surely Saturday he proved again what a really good trainer he is taking a lad who has far inferior boxing skills (I don't mean that in a derogatory way to Sam I'm sure he'd agree Frankie has the more natural skills) but still getting the win.

I wouldn't worry too much about John Costello mouthing off, as you can see from reading his post he has just taken the opportunity to let people know that he doesn't get on with Jon Pegg anymore. There is literally no explanation as to what he thinks Jon did wrong that should make him feel ashamed, reason being he did nothing wrong.

Didn't realise it was John Costello mate, makes it worse that really if the keyboard warriors and internet trolls aren't bad enough you've got people within the sport mouthing off over internet forums! Really
Seems from what Jon (Pegg) has put on here him and Max have spoken about it was a couple of heat of the moment things and its all water under the bridge thats the way it should be. Don't get why some people feel the need to try and keep it going on here.
