Thought Gavin was curled up below Eggingtons waistline and being held up by the bottom rope.

I'm not commenting on the fight. I'm commenting on people saying there's a standing 8 count in British boxing when there plainly is not. ffs.
Ffs it was a version of the wbc title so should be wbc rules not british boxing rules, shouldnt be a standing 8 in any pro boxing fight these are professionals not amateur
The WBC rules are identical to the BBBofC rules on this point - both consider that a fighter is down if the ropes are keeping him upright. Neither have a standing eight count in their rules. So there's no difference.

Agreed - and that's plainly how the referee saw it too, as he would have had no basis for giving a count otherwise. All BBBofC refs know that there is no standing eight count.

Well i think if the ref has to jump in in this case then it should be to save the fighter and wave the fight off,in this case gavin was gettin pummelled and didnt have an answer so shoukd of been stopped, its upto the fighter to take a knee to get the 8 count not the ref to just give him it before he even touches the floor
