Terry O'Connor's a big guy but he must be getting on. Are his joints up still up to picking up Nathan throwing him over his shoulder and carrying him back to his corner?

If so I still think it's a bad idea for Clev and a big comedown for Kovalev if he beats Ward.

Cleverly isn't a bad fighter by any means but Kovalev would beat him again. Stevenson would beat him aswell.

I'd call the police if this fight got sanctioned.

He got battered and Kovalev didn't really even hit him too cleanly

Originally a fitness guy but seems a good trainer.
Lack of experience but Nathan has stuck by him despite people saying he'd benefit from moving elsewhere.
As with all trainers the proof is in the pudding and clevs looked alright last two fights.

Any rematch would finish the same way as the first fight. Cleverly hasn't got the tools to hang with a puncher like Kovalev. He's too easy to hit and struggles to box to a plan. I like Clev. He's been in some entertaining fights but he should stay away from Kovalev. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned Stevenson. That's probably a better idea. I'd favour Stevenson but he's getting on a bit and has been pretty inactive so he's more of a chance against the pimp than he has against the Krusher.

Nathan 100% wants the rematch; he feels he let himself and everybody else down in the first fight. His words -

Win lose or draw I will give him a better fight than first time; I got it totally wrong and want to show I am better than the first.

I honestly think he wants to prove to himself more than anything that he can do better. Hats off to him for wanting to try again.

No chance. His defence is crap and we've already seen he can't stand up to Kovalev's firepower.

I do like the fact Clev is still pissed about that defeat to Kov....like others have said, he's a proud man and clearly wants to fight and beat the best. But I agree that Kovalev would appear to have his number and Nathan would really have to try something different not to end up in a heap again.

However, maybe Ward makes that Kovalev call-out null and void this weekend?

I would much rather see him give a title shot to Forfara.
They had a really exciting fight last time out, it was very back-and-forth all the way through.

As a Clev fan - I was disgusted at his tactics. I believe that had he fought of the back foot & gave himself the space to carefully pick his shots, then he would dictate the pace of the fight, land more punches & get in with the cleaner shots.

So yeah, the Forfara rematch - and it's definitely a winnable fight for him.

Now that Ward has exposed Kovalev as a hype job ( ), does anyone feel Cleverly could handle Kovalev by employing similar tactics? Or does he still get pulverised early?

Ward didn't sound like he wanted a rematch straight away and he might want an 'easy' fight at home.

I would imagine calling Kovalev out is the easy bit until he ends up stood in front of you again. He looked pretty composed, quick and bull strong did the Russian last night.

His best chance was the first fight and whilst he did adopt the wrong tactics and come into it pretty blind about Kovalev's abilities I don't see how the passing of a few years, where he's been bothering Bellew whilst Kovalev has been fighting at a much high level, is going to change the end result. He'd do better probably but he'd need to get a serious strategist involved and work on it a long time. He's brave and clearly proud and can't fault him for either but I don't see where he has the hand speed, movement, defence or skills that give him the edge here. Other thing is I don't think Cleverly has ever carried the power to match his style but he could box a bit so not sure why he's never changed his style.
