Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
Some of the hand-wringing in here at times is hilarious
Is Ortiz vs Allen really such a horrendous mismatch that the BBBoC should stop it happening or strip Hearn of his licence? This is professional boxing, most fights on most cards are complete mismatches as as long as both boxers are healthy and there are medical specialists present, its fair game.
Is it a good fight? Not particularly. But some of the over-reactions on here would fit in better on Mumsnet.

However this is a gross mismatch and Hearn should be ashamed. This isn't even to do with Allens ability.
Only 3 months ago he said he was putting his career on hold to deal with depression

This was a poor enough bit of matchmaking when I never knew this.
This is disgraceful. If this lad gets seriously hurt, someone needs to look at the board and Hearn for allowing this to happen.
Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
Much rather see Allen fighting him than some overweight Romanian!
Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
Eddie obviously isn't apportioning much to anybody other than Matchroom and Joshua.

I can't keep up with Allen, last I heard he had packed it all in had he not?
Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
It's also worth noting that the board would not sanction Whyte v Allen for the vacant British title because they didn't feel Allen was experienced enough.davie wrote:Naandrew wrote:I've nothing against Dave Allen as he seems alright and obviously doesn't give a f*ck.

Ridiculous matchmaking. Trying to repair the rep damage caused by the Scott snoozefest, Allen like a lamb to the slaughter, this sport that I love, does my head in sometimes.

Ok, is that a good or bad thing?
its an excellent opportunity for Allen my money is on him to beat the ancient overated slugger. If not im sure Allen will be paid hansomly for the fight, good luck to him, get behind our young english lion.

I thought I would be the only one with a slightly more positive take on this and whilst I don't think Allen will win , he probably realises how far hisRexob wrote:Killer Blow wrote:It's people like you that are responsible for this fight happening.Rexob wrote:I think Allen will win.

skills can take him and this will be his best chance to earn a really good purse .
All the best to him and i'm sure it will be a gutsy display no matter what the outcome .

Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
Ortiz on points, if Allen picked anything up from two weeks ago Luis struggles against a moving target but wouldn't be shocked if Allen gets shocked by the power
Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
Scott moves far better than Allen does.
Dave is going to be hit a lot, it's just a matter of how he takes it.

Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
In all honesty, it's no worse a match up than the main event.
If any bout shouldn't have been sanctiond, it was Molina getting another shot at a world title.
If we should be concerned for anyones health, it should probably be the guy that's going to get pummeled by Joshua.
Maybe Hearn didn't want to show up his prize pony by having a reasonably competitive heavyweight fight on the bill

Genuinely thought this was a joke when I saw the thread title which kind of says it all.
I hope they're paying Dave Allen well.

I've heard about how much he's getting paid and it's a disgracefully low figure.Rexob wrote:Killer Blow wrote:It's people like you that are responsible for this fight happening.Rexob wrote:I think Allen will win.

Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
No, much, much worse. This is a top 10 guy with top 5 heavyweight power against a guy who might not be top 75 but who has a great chin. Look at what just happened to Gutknecht who is much better than Allen against a much lesser puncher in Groves. Allen is too brave for his own good and could take a life-changing beating here if the ref and his corner aren't sensible.davie wrote:In all honesty, it's no worse a match up than the main event.
Re: Dave Allen v Luis Ortiz
Dangerous match making. Personally dont think the BBBC should sanction this. An area level fighter vs a world class fighter. Allen is not going to run like scoot. Just hope he does not get hurt. Hes got balls on him I have to give him that. Price wanted nothing to do with this fight despite Ortiz hitting his criteria of fighting a world ranked opponent. I just hope Allens corner are not as brave as him.

Have to agree, Allen seems like a top geezer but I think he's gonna take a right hiding here. From what I've seen of Ortiz I think he'd beat AJ let alone a guy like Allen.PredatorHayds wrote:Absolute mismatch. How can the board let someone who lost every round at domestic level challenge one of the biggest punchers at world level.
Joke of a fight.
