Who landed more clean solid shots in the round.

Whether they're going forward or backwards.
Whether they're white or black.
Whether I like them or not.
I would add and reorder:

- whether I got something from one of the fighters' promoter/manager/friend
- whether he is from my country
- whether I like them or not
- boxing stuff
- whether they are of my race

The race part is the least important, but it could effect the 3rd line. However, the first two lines are the ones which were decisive.

So you're implying my scorecard went to Kovalev because I'm white? Why did Roy Jones score it for Kovalev then?

You think everybody that disagrees with the scoring of a fight did it for racial reasons?
Bro relax. We argue boxing.
I put race and preference in response to the general users of the forum, not to you.

It is a robbery if judges DELIBERATELY gave rounds won by Kovalev to Ward, even if it was just one round.

Correct. Kov looked a little lost as to what to do although he was still holding his own, he was being out-slicked. Have to give ward a lot of credit as he was very behind after 4 rounds and managed to turn it around.

Ward was NOT slick. That's the problem. People thinking that he won do it, because he is supposed to be slick, but he wasn't. Kovalev was outboxing him.

From range, Kovalev impressed. He clearly looked comfortable. Work on fighting inside, become a complete fighter, and he's probably unstoppable. And take a damn lesson from GGG. Golovkin throws his jab more than anyone. That's why he's barely lost any rounds.

Ok. Watching it live, I had Kovalev winning. However, it was a little late and I had been drinking.

So, I am reading these guys on here saying that you must watch it with the commentary off to possibly see it Ward's way. So, I decided to shut off the lights, kick the family out of the house, draw the blinds, shut off my cell phone, and limit my blinking. Like magic, I had Ward winning that time.

Just today, I was thinking I need a Rubber Viewing to find out who the winner is once and for all. But this time I wanted to completely submerge myself into the fight. Luckily, I have a friend who runs the planetarium at a smallish university downtown. He is a boxing fan and enjoyed the idea of putting the fight on in the planetarium. So, we did. Instead of the commentary and crowd noise, we put on very relaxing meditation music. It was crazy. Every punch landed felt like it was landing on me. I almost couldn't take the first round. Then the second round came. Kovalev landed that vicious shot that sent Ward to the canvas, and it basically paralyzed me. It was too much with the meditation music and all. I stopped right there and decided to give Kovalev the victory by 2nd round KO.

i have watched it 3 times now and still would not like to score it . certainly a fight that highlights how difficult judging can be. one thing i did finally notice was how many times punches kovalev landed did not actually land clean/correctly. even the knockdown was almost a palm up shot as andre was moving in and nowhere near the full force actually landed as kovalevs arm was still bent and not extended , ward moving forward obviously upped the force enough to knock him down compared to him moving away (a lot of shots kovalev landed were in this situation) or being stationary .

it showed me just how tricky ward makes himself to hit properly. he has to work very hard to do so and must be incredibly fit though he looked to have less in the tank come the end of the fight . after 3 viewings i can't see how kovalev changes the outcome in a rematch if the fight is judged the same. again i am not questioning the decision, that is for those that know what they are talking about, just highlighting how many times me as a casual fan had to watch the fight to see things boxers/ex boxers/judges and referees would be seeing as they happen.

i can appreciate the argument over it being a close decision, i don't see a blatant robbery though.

Gravedigging, I know, but I only just saw this post now. I was annoyed by your insistance that I could have scored the fight to Ward without bias, when in fact I was cheering for Kovalev, but thought Ward won by a round. Upon rewatching, I had Kovalev winning by a round.

I'm curious after reading my original post which rounds I gave to Ward that you thought were clear Kovalev rounds.

I watched it three more time's and Ward won each time after Kovalev knocked Ward down he threw the blue print out the window and thought he'd get the KO bad tactic's by Team Kovalev because he missed the boat  ....................Ward and his trainer the better duo on the night in a close fight that the Krusher will rue the rest of his life. :box: All the credit must go to Team Ward. :TU:
