In shape and on-form (NOT how he was vs Akapov) he's capable of winning rounds vs the ATGs.

BUT - he's fragile. Lacks the physicality, power, chin etc to be an elite 12 round fighter. I'm sure CEJr woulda stopped him if it'd been his 6th 12 round fight rather than his first.

I think he starts well vs Canelo and after 6 rounds is slightly ahead. A bit like a MW Amir Khan. Just as you're thinking BJS might be able to pull it off, Canelo's power starts to tell and the ginger one pulls away for late stoppage(probably) or wide decision with BJS hanging on.
He COULD win if he fights the perfect fight, but probably get stiffed on the scorecards anyway.
Try to imagine the odds that you'd rather bet on BJS than Canelo and (for me) you get about 1/20 - 20/1 - a little more than the '9 times out of 10' an earlier poster suggested.

Still be a good fight, but I think the question is - "does BJS go the distance?" not who wins. :box:
i think Canelo would have success earlier, Saunders isn't as quick or mobile as amir, and canelo would have no respect for saunders power. Canelo is also an underrated technician, and I think he'd start landing combinations after a couple of rounds.

I think Saunders is very overrated, he barely squeaked by Eubank Jr, and Jr is nowhere near as accomplished as Canelo, I think Canelo is a level above Saunders at least and is physically far stronger. He'd do him up like a kipper.

Canelo would smash Saunders. Just another fairly overrated WBO Champ who's not fought anywhere near the level that Canelo has or ever looked that impressive to me through a whole fight.

Gingerhead would be favored but I think that this would be a more interesting fight than Chavez Jr. The fellow Mexican might be better prep for 3G and bigger money though.

Still think khurtsidze will be the next fight.

Conelo is probably going to fight Chavez and whilst it's a farcical fight it will be absolutely huge.

Yeah, I remember being amazed that one of my favourites - Richard "The Secret" Williams got pasted by Sergio Martinez  And he did it twice - think I bought in to the Sky hype @ the time :brick:

Agree with you re Canelo - I just think BJS is slightly ahead and in the fight for 4 rounds against anyone. After that he's easy meat for anyone decent. :box:

Yes. It was a major shock to many people at the time, and I remember someone getting marmalised by 'made in hell' god, what was his name now, the russian fighter, he was a real beast. Something walker, hennessy fighter, name escapes me now. Also Steve Roberts, Takaloo, Wayne Alexander, not one of them was genuine world class.

Yes, Karmazin is right.
I saw Takaloo vs Alexander @ York Hall :box: classic.

Saw roman karmazin destroy walker at ally pally, really did a number on him. Some of his fans got a terrible shock because they had no idea who karmazin was.

Alvarez, no doubt about it.

In saying that, i'd like to see Billy Joe do well in the fight. But i just can't see him lasting the full distance.

Canelo can punch, his timing is examplary & his accuracy is deadly...

does Saunders under Ingle cause Canelo any problems?

He causes him problems for sure. Canelo still wins though, something like an 8-4 card, assuming BJS’ chin holds up well.

Outboxing Lemieux is different to facing Canelo.

Can’t see it happening anytime soon unfortunately. I think GGG & Canelo are tied up with each other for a while yet.

Despite the phenomenal performance Jacobs gave against GGG last time out, I think on form Bill beats him

Alvarez has fast hands but slow feet.....which would be a big problem against Saunders who is very fleet of foot.
Khan outboxed Alvarez but lacked the power to dent him and ultimately got blasted out. Saunders is a big middleweight and punches deceptively hard. Its a dangerous fight, but now he's in shape, I like Saunders chances against a one paced Alvarez.

Alvarez is overated, has been for a long time now. You fight his fight he can look superb. But if you take him out of his element and he's not all that good at adapting.

Very interesting fight.

Lemieux tried attacking to the body a few times with BJS covering up. Canelo moves just as much as BJS.

I think Canelo wins via body shot KO!

Or a decision.

Canelo by robbery.

Canelo wouldn't fight BJ in the UK and no way would the judges give BJ the decision in the US. Even if he won every round, BJ would be robbed.

I agree canelo doesn't like movers he likes to counter aggressive fighters and BJS is the complete wrong style for canelo .it would most likely be a fight where canelo wins 4 RDS but gets the decision.

I think Canelo would nick it with his eye catching flurries. I wouldn't rule out Saunders completely though.

Yep, that's very much my take as well - can already imagine the whole "BJS didn't show enough aggression to deserve the decision" etc narrative if he's jobbed on the cards and they try and justify it.
