Gentlemen! McGregor is a CLOWN, he'll be killed with a real fighter, he lost to a marijuana user who trained for the fight in 20 DAYS!

The UFC doesn't want their biggest money maker getting beaten to a pulp.
It's all just publicity for Conor. He's smart. He is doing everything he has to do to generate the most money for himself. People are going to tune in to see what this guy who is challenging Mayweather is all about. Conor knows he stands no chance against Floyd. But he does stand a chance to some day pull in the kind of PPV numbers Floyd has. For having only had his platform for a couple years now, he is off to a great start.

First.., The same commission that let Floyd slide on using illegal IV's -- and inadvertent PED usage 3 X according to Thomas Hauser.. the NSAC.
Second.., Conor is under contract to you -- so you could work deals on fabulous rich fights with Malignaggi first... Than Mayweather... You're in charge.

Dana's in charge and it won't happen. It simply isn't in his or the UFC's interests to see their top fighter get humiliated in a boxing ring.

Only a year left though i'm led to believe? I wonder how much it would cost to buy it out. I suspect Floyd is probably pulling some strings in the background for this circus. If he can buy out his own contract then knock-out Malignaggi they could have the farce-of-the-century; Floyd dancing around a 1-fight amatuer for another few hundred million

I wonder if the other MMA organizations such as Bellator would have enough money to lure Conor away from the UFC

Bellator has plenty of money, that just wouldn't make much sense for them. They'd break the bank but not have the fighters to reap the rewards on ppv. For anyone saying conor losing to a boxer would hurt the ufc? You're clueless. The ufc "agenda" has nothing to do with boxing. They've surpassed the sport in popularity here a long time ago even if they did give a damn.

It wouldn't hurt the UFC. But, it could knock a lot of luster off of Conor's persona. He's known as a dominate striker in MMA. And to see him get clowned in a stand up sport may possibly hurt his marketability. Maybe not. But there are a lot of people who don't understand the difference between striking in MMA and striking in boxing.
Either way, pretty sure all this is just to drum up some publicity. Dude is a marketing genius.

If they ever did it, it would be foolish not to have it in a stadium in Ireland.

Bradley Skeete would toy with McGregor in a boxing ring. He'd 100% take McGregor apart.
What the fvck would Mayweather do to him?
It would be a mismatch freakshow that would make boxing look silly.

He's not exactly a marketing genius. He's a good fighter who acts out a fake persona. Plenty of good fighters can follow this idea and have done before. Not many people like acting all the time though. Plenty of people prefer to be real to themselves and have a little more substance too. People act like McGregor invented the wheel.
He is just copying many before him. He's the type who'd do anything for money. Not my thing to be honest but he is quite entertaining at times to be fair to him.

Trust me, I do not care for his antics. I'd love to see him get starched. He sacrifices sportsmanship and respect for money. However, in doing so, he is really good at it. It's part act, part genuine if you ask me. He aligns himself with other big money makers, such as Floyd. He's generating a lot of interest, and knows how to market himself. This part is obvious as he is the highest paid fighter in the UFC and has already generated the highest PPV buys in the company's history more than once now. He's been with the organization for only 3 years now. I'd say that's pretty impressive.

No question his self promotion would be second only to Floyd & Ali for athletes I've witnessed.

I second that. And the only reason I would put Floyd above him at this point is because Floyd has been at it for so long now. I expect Conor to end up bigger. As far as Ali goes, not sure any athlete will be able to generate the kind of global attention and admiration, and hate, that he did. Even Conor admitted such in an interview a ways back.

Floyd created the blueprint for him. Not a Mayweather fan, but he doesn't get enough credit for being the first guy to basically promote his own fights. Now everyone can't do it, but I like a fighter taking the control away from the sleazy promoters.

I believe I read somewhere, at some point, that Conor was toying with the idea of creating his own promotion in the future.
But yeah, Floyd really did something. It's amazing when you get a fighter who rarely generates much excitement in the ring be able to sell the way he has. 24/7 was a Brilliant idea, and executed superbly. And now we have other networks copying off that idea.

It would make the UFC look silly too. Sillier in fact, because their champion would be so severely schooled.

The hardcore fans of both codes would understand, sure. But the general public, of which there are many times more people, would shake their head at UFC myth being exposed.

Lol, even the general public knows they are different sports. Quite the opposite, the boxing fans that hate mma would be the ones going nuts.
